Lower, because they're utterly forgettable, and don't stay in your head the way the worst offenders do.

And on that note, a big "fuck you" goes out to Sebby for welcoming me, his friend, to the only line anybody knows of the song that never ends.

And yeah, that ELP song is bad. But who wouldn't want to see the Gypsy Queen, in a glaze (haze?) of vasoline?
Concur with your FOTM thoughts. What really sucks about that song is all the praise it gets. I am trying to think of some other Worse Dead Songs Ever. Dancin in the Streets, though a cover, is my pick.

I thought Sebby did a typo with ELP, meaning ELO, Electic Light Orchestra, who probalby have some Worst Songs Ever in their catalogue. Is ELP an acronym?

No, it's still Rockford. (Well, it's James Garner, anyway.) Since I am Not Bob's Id, I was shooting to create a familiar, yet slightly edgier look. Glad to hear that I succeeded.

Emerson, Lake, and Palmer.

And concur on Dancin'. Which may be the song with the worst cover versions ever (Dead, Van Halen, Mick and Bowie).

Emerson Lake and Palmer. Pretentious early 1970s art-rock, NTTAWWT. Cool album covers.

Apropos of Electric Light Orchestra, a local DJ around here was almost fired from the classic rock station when he wondered on the air what sort of blackmail material that the ELO dude had to use to end up in the Traveling Wilburys.

"She's Like the Wind", like most things Swayze, provides a high level of unintentional comedy. Hearing it actually makes me laugh, not cringe.

As to Sebby's post, well, that's a weird-ass list. I can see calling all the songs annoying in some context or another. But there's not a Worst Song Ever in there.

Ollie ("sky rockets if flight, afternoon deliiiiiiiight!") Ramone
I disagree. I think he got the top of his list absolutely right. American Pie is a fucking awful song. Over eight minutes of sheer torture.

Do the "creative endeavors" of Actor/Singers count?

I heard a Juliette Lewis song on the way to work this morning. Was actually not so bad. I think she may sing better than she looks. Right, that's not hard.

Every fucking godawful song by Aerosmith. Plus, they're more of a corporate shill than U2.

Aerosmith should never have survived the early 70s. If they'd gone out in a coke, booze, and heroin-fueled blaze of glory, they'd be remembered as a good-to-great hard rock band. And we would never have been subjected to their MTV-fueled come back.
