Too bad there's no chance of you playing the Braves in the WS. You can get a WS ticket for face value the day of the game down there.

Worst franchise in the history of sports. I have a friend who is a Duke, Cowboys and Braves fan. Its all I can do not to slap the teeth out his mouth whenever we watch any of them.
But even among loathesome names like Duke and Dallas,* the Braves still have a special stink to them. That fucking franchise ruined baseball in the 90s.
* Its ok to like the Cowboys if you're from Dallas or TX. Its never OK to like Duke, even if you went there.

If they let us have Mazzone, I'll have to agree and disagree at the same time.
Here's a question for you sports fans: Is Mazzone responsible for the unbelievable success the Braves have had with their pitching staff over the last 15 years? Or is it more an organizational achievement? You can bet that if the Braves have given up on a starter, no matter what his numbers looked like the preceding year, that guy is done. And you can bet that if they bring somebody up from the minors or trade for a guy, he's going to be great.
I can do without the Raymond Babbitt routine in the dugout, though.
" Definitely take him out. He's done. I'm an excellent pitching coach. Definitely."

Jesus Christ... I just watched that thing on espn.com. Did that ball get out of the park (can't tell from grainy internet film)?

My Addidas

'Arkansas State's leading returning scorer is sitting out because he refuses to wear adidas shoes, which Indians players are obligated to wear because of a school contract.
Jerry Nichols, a 6-6 outside shooter who averaged 9.6 points per game last year, has had two knee operations and said he was wearing Adidas shoes when he first hurt the knee. The school says Nichols has to dress by its rules.
"We have a contractual agreement with [adidas], and it's not any different than any number of other contracts with other schools. There is not any stipulation or any research that shows any shoes are worse than any others," Arkansas State athletic director Dean Lee told The Jonesboro Sun newspaper.'
________
This is absolutely ridiculous. Let the kid suit up in some non-descript shoes. I tore my ACL, and while it had nothing to do with the shoes, if he's not comfortable wearing the brand he injured himself in, forcing him to wear them is stupid.
If they had handled it right, no one would have noticed or cared. And if anyone asked, he could have said he was wearing special shoes, with an insert or something, for medical reasons.

ETA: And players get in trouble if they take a free meal from a booster. What a load of bullshit.

Serves him right for wearing them without laces.
Although, for all of the marketing tie-ins and everything, and all the money that schools and corporations make off these kids, they should pay them some form of stipend. I agree that the free meal thing is bullshit, and that the problem with that usually isn't the kids, it's the boosters. And what happens to them when this shit goes down -- nothing. Let's not kid ourselves, there is nothing "amateur" about college football and basketball, at least.

I'm still in shock.
It's been very, very quiet all over town since about 10:32 last night. No one knows what to say.

I'm not entirely sure, but it looks like we were running off of two servers. Everything seems to be back to normal, though we lost some of the stuff that was posted between the time the old server went down and the new server went up.
I think it was 18 posts here and 4 or 5 on the PB. I can recreate them if ya'll want.
PMs should be restored.
