What you want is a smoking gun. It's easy to say, "You can't stand there and tell me, 'That man is racist!' so, our system works.'" It's harder to take a deeper look at the problems our system has. And when I point out that it seems fucked up that black men overwhelming seem to be the ones who are rotting in jail for no reason, you tell me, "Well, that's a system that works." Pardon me if my response is: You can suck it.

Where's the incentive to change it? Answer?: There is none. As long as the system isn't as unfair to white people as it is to black people, I'll continue to hear reasoned responses that tend to ignore the underlying issues that seem so glaringly obvious to people like me.

Every time an injustice is done in the opposite direction, the world can't handle it. Hell, white people were crying in the streets over the injustice of the OJ trial. And whether or not OJ was innocent is not the point. I've never heard so much about injustice in my life, even though that shit has been going on for centuries in the opposite direction. I'll never forget all those white people with tears in their eyes when the verdict was read. And I'll never stop asking where those tears are for the black guy (in what seems like a long string of black guys, as I said in my first post) who just got out after serving 30 years for a crime it was just proven he did not commit.

I like when Thurgreed gets serious.

A woman who is part of a local peacemaking network with me sent me this study (PDF file), "Structural Racism and Community Building," from the Aspen Institute Roundtable on Community Change.** I just got it yesterday so I have not done any more than scan the beginning (it's 56 pages) but I think there is some thought-provoking stuff in there.

**I'm pretty sure this is not a conservative think tank but the institute is supported by some reputable foundations so though it may be a bit left for our resident conservatives, I don't think it is beyond the pale.

Gotta love these studies. My particular fave is the one that completely proves that even when you take into account other variables, blacks are still given the death penalty more than whites on a discriminatory basis; the study that the Supreme Court agreed with but then allowed business to continue as usual.

I would think the numbers 6 and 9, but I'm immature.

No. It was a(n) (unsuccessfully) loaded translation.

Speaking of cursive letters (I guess I was the only one doing this, but anyway) the capital cursive X is formed by placing the number 6 adjacent to the number 9 and I always thought it looked so sad -- like a couple having a lovers quarrel but agreeing to discuss it in the morning.

This is the same reason why those "thigh highs" aren't sexy -- they use the same super-elastic grip and then skin bulges above them - not pretty and why the traditional garter hose and clips are better. Problem with the garter/hose is -- damn you had better practice that shit. I went for a leisurely stroll on a third date in the plaza around Lincoln Center thinking I'd give my date an enticing, casual peak at some point at my sexyware. Next thing I know, both hose came out of the garter clips and there went my "barely black" hose, sagging until they came to rest mid-calf. I had to walk back to the restroom with one hand pinching the stuff on each outer thigh to keep it up until I could perform major surgery in the bathroom. I do not have hot legs so none of this was cute.

ETA: I blame The Gates.
Well, how did things end? Did he proceed to re-remove your sexyware?

Oh yes, cursive writing is very very sexual. You know how all the letters connect all the time? Daisy chain. TOTAL. ORGIES.
