Birthday present help needed
My 7 yo niece is having her birthday and I need some gift help.
I can't get her what she really wants (pretty much anything Pokemon) because my sister wants to cut down on the Pokemon paraphenalia (and probably because the older sister will try to snooker the birthday girl out of all the good cards).
I'd also rather not get her any dolls because she's got so many. Any good ideas?

Art supplies.
There are these, because who doesn't remember Linoleum block printing with fondness? (supervision required):
Or you could go with these, which are always a hit (for molding body parts):
Lots of other ideas here:

I remember that unless the chisels are sharp it's hard to do. And if they're sharp it's easy to slice off a finger.

the chisels are a little too scary but the art supplies are a great idea. She's very creative and already draws better than I do.

Starting at about that age, my oldest has really enjoyed a shopping trip with her cool aunt from NYC.

Does she have a DS or Wii? You could get her a new game.

I'm really not sure what you'd do with the glass shards. If they were colored, at least, you could make a stained glass window.
Now that WOULD be fun for a 7 year old, wouldn't it?

Re: General discussion - Mom and Dad Esq.
RT and I have been discussing this board and the failure it has become because of all the poor advice. As you may know, it began as a place for bilmore to share advice as he was the only one with grown children. Eventually the mantle was handed to NotBob and me.
The purpose of the board was to allow any parents to ask a questino then NB and/or I would solve the problem. NB was good, but I was voted most helpful in the end.
At any rate, several socks with young children have begun posting their confused thoughts, and it makes the board of questionable value. To address the problem, we are looking for software that will only allow socks other than me to post questions. Then my advice can come across cleaner.
We will keep you advised as this effort procedes.

If we could rely on your implied promise we could report to the board that a volume problem has been solved. I know you care about the board. Can we count on you to do your part?

My rebooted primary sockcarnation is more mature. Perhaps I should take over NB's mod duties here? ![Confused](http://www.lawtalkers.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif) ![Confused](http://www.lawtalkers.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
