In addition to taking the under on Slave's 64 yeas for Alito (calling the vote of 52), I also predict that history will regard the Bush administration's terrorist imprisonment approaches to be a nadir not only for american foreign policy but also for its role as the leader of the free world. Although it may ultimately be something of an historical footnote, like McCarthyism, it will be a noted one.
Good lord--the ends do not always justify the means.

We need a CIA doing things we don't know about. Scrutiny of the CIA in the 70s and 80s killed it.

Perhaps, but that view point will be limited to the faux intellectual ivy tower elitist appeasing hate America first crowd. The supermajority of American patriots would just as soon see the terrorists summarily executed after we extract the info by any means necessary. As for the world opinion of France and the other socialist nations in its wake who are collectively responsible for awarding a babykilling terrorist a nobel peace prise, again, American patriots don't care, but surely the Hate America First will soil their diapers into continued irrelevancy about what "world" opinion" is.

the Clintons attempted to destroy the CIA in the 90s. That is something history should examine. Although it may have been about sex, and if so, it is probably excusable.

2. It's the weirdest thing to do. Perhaps all the men are taking Spanky's advice and only asking other guys what will turn women on. Or maybe they just post what turns them on themselves.

do gay men like pictures of naked guys? I think so, (Penske- you subscribe to Blue Boy still, right?) so it's not the image perceived, it's the perceiver.

And the question is why men think that women perceivers will like the images, right?

Republican Majority for Choice's position (non-position) on Alito

Alito Named Supreme Court Nominee
President George W. Bush nominated Judge Samuel Alito this morning as his nominee to replace Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. Judge Alito currently sits on the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia. Today's nomination follows last week's withdrawal by Harriet Miers, President Bush's initial nominee to replace retiring Justice O'Connor
In the announcement, President Bush highlighted Alito's extensive career as a litigator, arguing twelve cases before the Supreme Court before being confirmed as an appeals court judge by President George H.W. Bush in 1990. Bush called Alito the most experienced nominee in 70 years. Judge Alito has opined from the bench on abortion rights, the separation of church and state and gender discrimination and has a very lengthy record.
RMC is carefully reviewing Judge Alito's record on issues of importance to our members. Our preliminary research raises some questions regarding his respect for precedent and judicial philosophy, but we are continuing to our investigation and we are already in contact with moderate Senate leadership. Stay tuned for updates as more information is released in the coming days.

I'd like to see who qualifies on that list. Not too many phone calls made, I would expect.

What's amasing is that the "Blue Boy reference as a homophobically charged zinger" has been around for over 30 years. I wonder if it has the legs to outlast the Demos Hate America First philosophy?

I note that I have 53 , so your play is one below mine. I'm thinking of changing to 51 (which, of course, can be either a 51-50 or a 51-49), but it doesn't leave much room for error. I feel trapped.
I agree on the Guantanamo issue; Bush's greatest fear right now has to be that ten years from now he is seen as the President who got us into a still-deepening Iraq quagmire and who cheapened the constitution and dirtied America's image.
He needs to find some other significant accomplishment in his second term, such as a shift in the Supreme Court or a significant revision of the tax code, while finding a way to disengage from Iraq and sweep Guantanamo under the rug, simply to preserve his legacy and to leave the Republicans in a position to win the next election.

Spanky, you hurt me -- and do no justice to several fine posters. In any event, as to Penske it depends on how his meds are working that day and for Hank, the lunar cycle.
