I don't think that he would have used the word "porr", he was a very good speller.

Gosh, the zingers you old skoolers lob at each other are just so damn funny. I see why you long for the days of yore.

Yore was never really that funny, and then he got banned by Yahoo for that whole "naming the lecherous partner" thing. No, I think the true longing is for the Renada Deshadas and the NWN's.

Did you also learn that Joe DiMaggio was an ass, not to mention overrated (probably due to the abundance of italian-american sportswriters and NY baseball fans). His HR/SO ratios are good (and it's all about the ratios), but his other numbers (particularly OBP and OPS) are very very good, but hardly worthy of the reverence he's given.
Now for his importance as a cultural figure, I'll leave that to the Michael Chabon set.

Are you still banned from participating in the BOTD award?

The icon status of any man who fucked Marilyn is self-evident. JFK got an airport named after him, for chrissake.

All Arthur Miller got was a t-shirt.

Nah -- I already heard that he was an ass (although there are conflicting reports about that). Learned more about the possibility that he took money from the Mob thingy.
As for being overrated ... um, not sure that I will go with you there. As a player, he was the whole package -- defense, speed, hit for average and power, etc. I would guess that if you compared his numbers to his contemporaries, they are better than "good." (Although I haven't checked, and I could be wrong.)As bilmore always says, you have to judge someone's talent in the context of his times. Who among the players of his era would you have rather had than Joltin Joe? Teddy Ballgame? Who, bilmore, who?
Plus, since this is the FB, he looked smashing in a suit.

Yeah, but it was a T-shirt that said "I fucked Marilyn Monroe", so it's not like he got bupkis.

The very first post I ever did, back on Yahoo, had something to do with "Yore".
I've come full circle. I can die now.

She had real but unattractive breasts.
