See that's your problem - knowing what the BCS IS. Me, I just tuned that shit out for the past 4 years.

I know that this music thread is probably over, but since PLF wasn't forthcoming, here's what I've been listening to:
Snow Patrol
Rilo Kiley (both their new and old stuff - The Frug is a great song, check out the video on launch.com sometime)
Dogs Die in Hot Cars - more than just a 1 song wonder
Dizzie Rascal - as good as everyone said he was.
Question: Will the Ditty Bops become the next Indigo Girls?
Question: How long can I stay away from internet poker THIS time?

- My Dad's Gone Crazy
8 Mile- Lose Yourself
- 8 Mile Road

Marshall Mathers LP- Kill You [You may not like this one]
- Stan
- The Way I am
- The Real Slim Shady
Slim Shady LP- My Name Is
- Guilty Conscience
I left off a bunch on the last two albums because I'm not sure you'd like them. But if you likes most of what I listed (and can get past the misogyny and homophobia, which may take you some time), you should give all his stuff a listen. He really is an amazing lyricist. He finally convinced me that he was one of the best with "FixyourbentantennaetuneitinandthenI'mgonna" (sung to the tune of the old Batman theme that goes nuhnuhnuhnuhnuhnuhnuhnuh) on the Without Me track.

I actually think they'd have a good chance of winning, if Kris and Jon and Hayden and Aaron weren't so clearly superior in every way.

Vacation defense tactics - poll?

This thread is making me and my 10 in-house vacation days + 3 personal days very sad.
The Seattle Seahawks also make me sad in going from "one of the greatest comebacks to not only take the lead, but cover the spread" to "losing the game outright" in a 10 minute stretch.
Yuck, shame on you Mike Holmgren, shame! Shame!

Wonking on Toy Guns

I understand from him that once you've actually killed a person with a gun, it's a little difficult to watch your kids play cowboys and indians. Even when I was very young, I always implicitly understood the seriousness of the objection and didn't really argue.
Especially once he decided that water guns were okay so long as they weren't shaped like real guns.
|
We had a similar rule brought about by the marriage of a hunter dad (who naturally kept several real guns) and a mom whose baby brother was accidentally killed in a hunting accident at age 15. We could have toy guns but could not point them at another person or animal. We got a special dispensation for squirt guns that didn't look like real guns.

Two nuns are riding bicycles down the back streets of their small European hill town. First nun muses, "I don't think I've ever come this way before." Second nun sez, "It's the cobblestones."
I may have learned this joke on this board. If so, thanks, whoever you are. It makes 75% of the nuns I know laugh. I have not told, and will not tell, the joke to the other 25%.

Second poll: Must-have Christmas album.
My vote is Nat "King" Cole's "The Christmas Song."
We already know Lester's is "Fairytale of New York." Anything else make the FBers feel warm and fuzzy while their chestnuts roast etc.?

Funny. This has done nothing to change my image of you.
Why did you come back? And why didn't you bring blow?

As I've already noted, I'm a big fan of the Vince Guaraldi Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack ("Christmas Time Is Here" is the best song -- sad, sweet, and it brings back lots of memories of a Young Not Bobby scampering in the snow of the Ancestral Homeland).
And I am not ashamed to admit that I like the Amy Grant Christmas CD. She's got a nice, smooth voice that is perfect for the traditional Christmas songs.

The answer to this question could put you in the top three of the non-existent crush list:
How many times is "one too many?"
