No. I wasn't kidding when I asked club the same question a week ago (+/-). The only source he cited was one of Chalabi's guys. And he pointed to KPMG, which was retained by Chalabi to do so some kind of investigation. So far as I know, no one other than Chalabi's people have seen any proof of this scandal. If you know something more, I'd like to see it.

While this is an attractive theory, since it means that all we have to win the war on terrorism is to figure out how to bring economic growth to areas of the world that have so far missed out on the industrial revolution, which is surely a piece of cake, it doesn't seem to be right. Al Qaeda is recruiting people from relatively middle-class backgrounds, not the poor. There's surely a mix, but a lot of the 9/11 21 were fairly well off. OBL, of course, was no pauper.
But your economic determinism is amusingly Marxist.

Bagged some big game? If I were sitting next to you right now, I would smack you upside your head.

I hope that's true. The AOBB (any outcome but Bush) people dismay me to no end. I truly believe that much of what I read these days is written by people who would rather we lose the war, as long as it results in Bush's loss.

I'm for whatever force will grow a stable middle class in the middle east. At this point, I think democracy is the only force that will do so. The current forces - Islam, and despotism - only polarize economics.

When Annan et al stop "pulling a Clinton" and start handing over some documents to Volcker's crew, I'm sure there will be plenty.

IRL, I would not smack you upside your head. I meant that in the figurative sense. If you said that in front of me IRL, I would just roll my eyes and walk away from you and think less of you as a person.

I agree that my prior post was a bit of an oversimplification in that I neglected to mention the influence that Arab culture and islam has on terrorism. The Arabs are a barbaric and primitive people and Islam is a violent and primitive religion. Add that into the mix of oppressive, totalitarian regimes coupled with limited economic opportunities for the masses and the concentration of wealth in the hands of the few and you've got a recipe for terrorism.

Thank you for confirming that there are no non-Chalabi-sourced documents. When confronted with this inconvenient fact, club and Not Me just went silent.

That was your first response. At 2:26, I said, no, I wasn't kidding. From then and 3:15, you posted four times, ducking my question each time.

If some turn up, will you say they're old, or too few to mean much?
Seriously, do you dispute that there was abuse, or are you disputing where the money went? Give me a request and I'll find your evidence.
