No, they're wingnuts. In fact, they're fucking idiots. You're too polite on this issue. So are a lot of people. I'm sick of placating the stupid because "they're beliefs are so sacred to them." Fuck them. If I believe an alien race is going to visit my backyard and take my wife and I to Blisstonia*, is such a view entitled to be considered rational? Fuck no. In the same vein, organized religion cobbles otgether a littany of tribal rituals, ancient beliefs and superstitions and packages them as having been derived from God. The Pope's edicts are as valid and credible as gene Simmons' opining about "the Good Life" in last month's Maxim. Neither is worth anything more than the ether it occupies. Just because some Southern Baptist shit-for-brained idiot screams something is "sacred" and "indellibly right" doesn't mean his idiot viewpoint is not worthy of my derision. When did it become wrong to call out another's stupidity? Why can't I ask the religious for proof? Why in the hell do I have to listen to their claptrap and treat it as though its scientifically sustainable?

All this said, on logical bases, I believe in some sort of creating force. But I think you really have to have shit for brains to buy any organized religion. They're all self-contradicting nonsense.

While I agree as to the CIA and Mossad, I also see the high potential for abuse by the Russians. Russia is still quite a corrupt govenment and I can see them labeling political opponents as terrorists to justify their actions. They have a history of it.

2. But some of them are more than just self-contradicting nonsense. They are forces of evil on this earth, like Islam. I mean all of Islam, not just radical islam. The treatment of women by muslims is abhorrant. Not just the extremists, either.

Same is true of some right wing Christians and of the ultraorthodox jews. But with islam, it is even the so called moderates. That is what is so frightening about that religion.

I'm not sure that someone's considered belief that abortion is the murder of a kid equates to wingnuttism, or fucking idiocy. In fact, it is entirely possible for an intelligent atheist to hold that view. I understand that it's easy to characterize it that way, because then you get to make rants like you just did as if they are germane to the discussion, but if you really believe that and don't just bring it up for the rant's sake, you're going to continually get blindsided.

That's fucked up. But not as fucked up as a reiligion that mandates that women who live in a fucking hot-as-hell desert wear towels on their fucking heads.

Hasn't the battle to teach that to the exclusion of evolution pretty much been given up (obviously there's a fringe contingent for everything, but let's not start there because the dems. can't win that argument)

Those two words should never appear together. I'm only asking that you consider the opinions of intelligent people, and not write all off as the result of wingnuttism. But, yes, there are wingnuts.

I expect to be highly entertained with your explanation of how a bunch of Lubavitchers are the force of evil on our planet. Hang on. I'm going to get some coffee and a Whatchamacallit candybar.

Looking about as harmless as a bunch of Amish.

When did ZZ Top get all those extra band members?

I see institutionalized sexism as evil, just as institutionalized racism is evil. Claiming some divine right to treat women as less than men is even more evil than those who do it for non-religious reasons.

I also don't see the Amish as harmless. By instilling their rejection of modernity into the minds of their vulnerable children, they have harmed them. I see what the Amish do to their children as abusive. Forcing them to live like that is morally wrong.

I'm sorry. I forgot that they're calling it "intelligent design" now.

I hate those people that think God may have started life, rather than recognizing the irrefutable evidence that a chain of billion to 1 chances led to life. How can they be such wing nuts as to argue it?

conf. Happy Ty?
