Speaking of which, there is a book out there (and again, I may have missed the boat) called Aragon or Eregon or something by a home-schooled kid and about the adventures of this boy and his dragon that is supposed to be excellent. Better than Harry P. Anyone know what I am talking about and what this book is actually called so I can get it?

Today I am walking along and some guy (I would say around 20) checks me out and says "Whatsup, Gramma" when I walk by. I just looked at him and said "did you just call me gramma?" and he says "yup" with a big kind of flirty smile.

What is that all about? am I missing the lingo of the kids these days? Gramma?
Perhaps you should call Ltl's grandpa... he's chock full of learnin'.

And those were not Rush lyrics (not technically, although Geddy Lee did participate) -- that was Bob and Doug McKenzie you hoser.

Harry P is very obviously a trannie messiah. Look at him - he's like a shrunken Billy Jean King.

My point exactly. No way the lady writing HP thought "time for a Jesus figure", and no question literary analysis will find them there.

You are so fucking insensitive, you bastard. I never met either of my grandfathers. They died before I was born. I can't believe you would rub salt into this wound.

She did not post Rush lyrics. Apparently my re: line confused you.

Irregardless, the point is the same. If it makes you happy, I will call you "Ms. Poster of Fucking Annoying and Freakishly Long Lyrics."

So the kept man and I were watching a show last night (yes, an actual show that was not hockey -- what the fuck was I thinking) and it was about tits and ass. I think it was on E or VH1 or something like that. They blocked out all the private parts. I must say that my strange fear of seeing nudity on film has quite possibly made me miss out on some good films, at least according to this show.

What sticks out in my mind is that they showed that Ginger girl from the Spice group and she apparently posed nude before their meteoric rise in the music industry. Was I missing something? She was pretty damned fugly in those nudie shots.

I also watched a lot of hockey which I will report on at length shortly.

Yeah, he's right behind Rawling on the kids bestsellers list. He's barely out of school, if that.

Here's the blurb I saw about him. "Christopher Paolini, who has never been to school, was only 15 when he wrote his fantasy novel "Eragon," about a boy who finds a magic stone that is transformed into a dragon and then sets out to avenge the death of his uncle and to defeat an evil king. Now four years later, "Eragon," published by Alfred A. Knopf, is third on the New York Times hardcover children's chapter books best-seller list, outselling four of the five Harry Potter books. "

I took a course in college with a well-known writer, who disclaimed any purposeful placement of "Jesus figures" or what-have-you symbolism in any of his writings. However, the people who make a living out of finding symbolism in places where even the authors deny putting it will just say it was the authors' subconsious that put it there.

You can't win this fight Hank. There are people who think it's there, and there's nothing you can say that will make them change their minds.

The Chronicles of Narnia, however, is a legit and purposeful usage of the "Jesus figure". I don't think CS Lewis was trying very hard to hide the ball with that particular series.

Lemme get this straight... you're afraid of seeing nude people on screen? Why?

I saw something on TV about that. The family apparently threw all their financial resources into the initial publication and toured around selling them out of a van. It sold so well that Knopf picked it up. I think the kid or his brother did the original cover illustration too, but Knopf changed it. Which is kinda sucky, in a way.

For the record, this is one of the 152,734,869 areas that TF and I disagree about. GO ahead and ask her about the butt sex.
