Probably because your "everything I despise" list is so large that you are bound to inadvertently stumble across it from to time.

At least you know there'll be no pyrotechnics.
And yet you're OK with Nazareth?
And what a blast from the past - Head East. After the 1 song, then what do they do?

Best solo instruments:
-chainsaw (Jackyl)
-power drill (Van Halen, Mr. Big)
-bagpipes (AC/DC)

Everything is better live. Like Kashmir with a mirror ball.
Was it a real working chainsaw? I'm sure their lawyer didn't let them run around with an actual chain on it?

I met the guitarist for Head East. He was doing one of those Has Been tours for a regional bar chain. I was talking to him for a while and he mentioned he played guitar. I asked if he was in a band, just to be polite. When he said he was in Head East, it was all I could do to keep from laughing. When he said he wished he could stay in town another night so he could catch Asia, I lost it. Nice guy, though.
In other news, I was a little mislead by the title of this website, http://www.showmeyourwound.com/wounds/, but the stories and pictures are entertaining.

Either that, or fringey is simply weak and morally bankrupt.

What are you talking about? They have multiple good records. Flat as a Pancake (with Never Been Any Reason on it) was chock full of cool songs (e.g., Love Me Tonight, Jefftown Creek). Plus you got Since You've Been Gone from the self-titled album.

Real working chainsaw. With chain. Not one of those little home saws either, this was industrial.
Don't think they paid much heed to the whole lawyer thing.

Yep, that's the one song. I think you'll find that once they play that, the crowd goes home.

In high school I went to a free Don McLean concert (as opposed to a Free Don McLean! concert). Of course everyone's there to hear American Pie (nobody's going to make a special trip just to hear Vincent). He played a horrendously boring 2 hour set featuring his stupid protest songs and other acoustic filler.
He finally started American Pie, and the remaining fans jumped to their feet, all singing along. He got about halfway through the second or third verse when the power went out. The crowd kept singing, but he just kind of shrugged his shoulders and walked off the stage. I have never seen so many beer cups thrown at an empty, dark stage before. I thought there was going to be a riot, but his fans just packed their kids into their Volvos and drove away after a while.
