Guests include - Str8 and a host of others.
LOS ANGELES - Brad Pitt, Robert De Niro, Andy Garcia and Hugh Grant will be among dozens of celebrities joining in an NBC Universal TV benefit for tsunami relief.
Other stars announced Thursday for the benefit include Lucy Liu, Josh Groban, Jay Leno, Natalie Portman, Nicolette Sheridan (it appears that she will do anything for publicity) and Naomi Watts.
Stevie Wonder, Meg Ryan, Clint Eastwood, Mary J. Blige and George Clooney were among previously announced participants.
Sony’s Connect music store will offer downloads of live performances from the concert, with proceeds going to the American Red Cross International Response Fund.
SBC Communications is underwriting the two-hour, commercial-free benefit.

I don't understand these actor laden star studded benefits*. Concerts featuring various bands performing? Fine. A play performance or movie showing with all the proceeds going to a charity? Fine. But listening to a bunch of over paid beautiful people who live in a dream world surrounded by yes men and other assorted hangers on, imploring me (who makes less in a year then they spend in a month on limos, plastic surgery, and their drugs of choice) really irritates me. Why don't they get off their dermabrased (sp?) asses and contribute some of their own hard cold cash to the effort. I bet they'll get really cool gift bags for participating too. Bastards! I wanna be an Oscar presenter just for the gift bag.
As a final note, is Steveie Wonder the only one performing? Will it be two songs by Stevie and 1 hour 50 minutes of horrible speeches?
Thank goodness I have Netflix to watch.
*hyphenation help please.

There's Mary J. Blige. Josh Groban will probably sing. I really like his voice, not so much his choice of tunes. And Nicollette will drop a towel.
eta, larger guest list to get you to watch and donate. And it's commercial free!
Madonna
Sheryl Crow
Diana Ross (drunk, I hope)
Stevie Wonder
Maroon 5
Norah Jones
Sarah McLachlan
Mary J. Blige
Lenny Kravitz
John Mayer
Eric Clapton
Kenny Chesney
Gloria Estefan
Nelly
Sir Elton

I once said "recockulous" to someone irl and they lifted their eyebrow at me. I didn't know if that was a "ah, clearly not as proprietary a gal as I had initially thought" or "whoa, it IS paigow"

My dream threesome would involve Brett Somers and Charles Nelson Reilly. It would hoepflly not involve sex.
Now, a question for the board. I have this gentile friend who has a jew fetish in that she prefers to date jews. I think it is probably related in some distant way to Charlotte York Goldenblatt. She tends to live in her own head a little bit and also happens to be the gal I said mrs. mmmmmmmm245667 sounded like. Oh, and she uses the word "cinema" when she means "film". As in, when I said to her "Do you want to see Meet the Fockers with me" and she said "you and I have different taste in cinema", as if Meet the Fockers is anything more than barely a movie, more like a Netflick but whatever. Anyway, lets call her Cinema.
So, Cinema and I are at brunch on the day after New Years Day with a couple of my friends who she doesnt know. She indicates that she would convert to judaism. Now, as a mockess extraordinaire, I find this a little irksome and never really got it. If a guy is so into his religion and heritage that he would only marry a jewess, why would he marry someone who was so not into religion or heritages that they would gladly cash their own in to be with a nice jewish boy? doesnt make sense unless its jew guilt to please the parents who have instilled 'you must marry a jew" into the kid from birth. anyway, we were discussing this and she agreed that there is sort of a mismatch in priorities there but didnt see what the issue was. I said that for jews, its about dilution of the religion and culture and tribe and she said "we are all being diluted so who cares" and I said, that this was exactly my point, that she could never truly be a jew bc its in your blood and that the dilution fear comes from 3000 years of persectuion, and tradition from Moses to Sandy Koufax, and its a holocaust thing.
anyway, I think she is not talking to me. is anyone irked by how some newber thinks they can just join the old skool by taking a few classes.

I wouldn't want to be a member of any tribe that would accept me.

Have I mentioned how happy I am that you are back? No subtext. No snark. I am genuinely happy.
We may now return to Friday.

Why? Perceived or actual appearance, affluence, propensity to be controlled by women? I have only known one shiksa IRL who wanted to date a bunch of Jews, and it was because she thought they provided a good shot at a worry free, luxurious life.
Why doesn't she just convert before meeting someone if she is that serious about it?

What strikes me as hypocritical re. conversion is the treatment of Jesus. OK, most people (at least those likely to convert) are just told about religion by their parents and of course accepting that there was this guy Jesus, and God, is something you either accept or not.
Most people I know are not really strick religious people. Still, most are just neglectful, not outright hostile to the idea of Jesus. We can take the attitude "my day to day life involves nothing to show I believe but somewhere maybe a small part of me does."
When you convert you're saying "I affirmatively state there was no Jesus." That is one slap to him if you turn out to have been wrong.
That just seems like such a hostile step about something you supposedly sort of believed in the day before. So I see what you're saying. If you can renounce that, how do you stop at still sticking with believing in God. I mean if you roll those dice on no Jesus, you cannot really believe strongly in there being a God, can you?

Man, you're fucking Polish Catholic...
FWIW, if I could have chosen my religion, it would have been Judaism.
Just for the jokes though.

Speaking of the tsunami , which I thought got personal for me, I got a return phone call from the John Bayesdow Personal Fitness Made Simple,. The lady left a voice message saying to call back so we could talk.
I don't know if she is gonna personally break the news or if Bayesdow is alive and well and giving people Phone Fitness.
