I'm looking for a good new rendition of "Amazing Grace".

Sebby, know of any?

I am plenty hippy, but with no edges right now, only round. Alas.

Hmmm... maybe I am not reading this right....

It's not; you would just wait nicely until they're done (though I don't know anyone who says it; people I know generally thank the host instead). It's asking a known nonbeliever to join or lead that's offensive.

Asking guests to profess their non-belief before dining would be the equivalent, perhaps.

And for "Amazing Grace," try Mahalia Jackson.

Now that is the way to say grace. It's things like that that make me think there's hope for you.

There's a pretty good version by Ani DiFranco on her Dilate, album. It's not exactly new, but maybe new to you.

Actually, yes. Ani DiFranco does the gayest Amazing Grace.

that's a pompous thing to say on a few levels- if you don't see that, I really don't know what to tell you.
You don't listen. That's the problem. She would never say that. Her publicist would tell Letterman it might be something he could bring up. He would ask if the rumor was true. She would demurely say it was, blush, add that she didn't think it was the right role and she is a little self conscious about nudity and that it was never a money issue for her. Her answer would either drive up the price or draw attention to whatever role for which she finally agreed to do it.

probably, although hollywood tends to be cautious of rewarding things like, simply/finally showing boobs. I mean, they aren't giving away awards to those who just do this.
I never said she would have been rewarded for just showing off her boobs. Your decision to ignore the substance of my argument is what makes arguing with you similar to arguing with SD.

Now this makes more sense. That is quite possible. But I tend to think that the way they dealt with her nudity in that scene muted the sensationalism that is Halle's breasts. People would have been drawn to the movie to see her breasts and would have seen a brilliant performance.

That said, this topic is depleted.

I'm on board with not asking a nonbeliever to join or lead. Yes, we're all looking for mutual respect, not a prelude to religious war.

Salome the Nun

is gone, along with that disgusting bloody head of a saint. I was never much of a dancer anyway.

The heart in my new avatar is for all y'all. I heart you. I only wish I could dot my "i"s and "j"s with hearts, but alas that function does not appear to exist.

Actually, all I'm looking for is a good dinner and a decent bottle of red. Can we discuss the whole 'mutual respect' thing once I'm suitably hammered?
