If her belly-button is that low, then I finally get the bowling ball joke...

Why? As long as it's projected in theatres, the issue would be the same. At least until they have a really, really large flat screen in your local Loews.

Why in the hell would you airbrush that? Didn't someone call her the closest thing to perfection god ever created? Or something like that?

The conspiracy is industry wide. I end up with somewhere north of 30 bags after each trip to safeway. (And, to forestall fatty remarks, if I ask for paper they can get the stuff into three or four). It's something about those plastic bags that are so alluring to the bagger/checkers--maybe they get paid like it's piece work and the metric is bags used.
I bring my own reusable bags when I go shopping.

with enough airbrushing, we can all be the closest thing to perfection ever to exist. that person may not have seen her in the flesh, or up close.

Actually, I don't think it's airbrushed. It's just a very fuzzy photo. If you look closely, you can see the outline of it. Her stomach is so flat that her belly-button has no depth to it. It's just a ring that is almost flush with the rest of her stomach.

Thus, there is some "scrap" image at the edges of the projected image. A lazy DVD editor will then just cram the entire film image onto the disk and memorialize it forever, instead of cropping it the way a professional projectionist would.
There might be something to that. I saw 6thS in the theatre, and when I caught some of the offending scenes on cable the images had been cropped.

I only wish I could have seen you in your office with your face planted on the monitor looking for the navel. I, for one, am not going to do it. I know it's there.

And DP in the navel? Can you SP in the navel?

Dunno. My thought was that maybe a digital projection device would be pre-calibrated to fill the screen of the theater in which it was installed so the individual projectionist would have less control over the image size in relation so the screen and the image would always be coterminous with the screen edges. But I don't know. It sounded like the kind of user-error glitch they'd seek to avoid in next-generation technology, but I may be giving them too much credit. You rarely see a boom mic on TV (except for reality shows).*

Eventually, all movie characters will be CGI and there will be no need for boom mics. Problem solved.

*Speaking of which, still loving Kenny vs. Spenny, even though I'm now convinced it's scripted. But I don't care. Watching Kenny drink coffee made from the boiled underwear of a victorious Spenny is worth it, even if it is scripted. The subsequent retching seemed real enough, as did the surprise appearance of the Uniform Partnership Act, or the Torontonian equivalent thereof. Not many deus ex machinas employ the finer points of partnership law.

Is that Boone again? If so, your muscles aren't real. He's a roid machine.
