Wait a minute. Don't you have a spot reserved in Branson?

A related note: in my kindergarten-son's class, on the 100th day of school, they were doing a bunch of projects related to the number 100, one of which involved drawing a self-portrait of what they'd look like when they were 100 years old.

Most of them drew canes, the boys drew beards, many had hats; one day as I was looking at the various pictures, the teacher called my attention to one girl's portrait: there were two people in the picture -- one was she (the artiste) and the other was her home aide.

It took every ounce of my self-control not to burst out laughing - but believe you me, I was laughing on the inside.

What tha...? Define "real issues," then.

Paws off, ladies. He's MY internet boyfriend.

And he won't cheat on me -- he told me so.

Of course women dig it. Of course it's a kick. I think about it all the time (for example, the hot kid who sits next to me would be a good candidate, but for the whole married thing - my being married, that is), but I can't imagine acting on it unless I were otherwise invested in a relationship; it's not worth it to me otherwise.
dtb got this exactly right. This is what I was trying to say. For me, one of the big signs that my marriage was really in trouble wasn't when I was looking at the cute tennis pro at the club and thinking "yummy". It was when I started trying to figure out how I was actually going to explain the hotel room on the Amex bill if I actually went ahead and did it. Ultimately, I decided to get divorced before I actually had sex with anyone who wasn't my husband, but the fact that I was seriously considering it (rather than just fantasizing about it) (a) was a product of how I felt about the person I was seriously considering, and (2) evidence that my marriage was really over.

This is bullshit. If I have an issue, I just fucking say so. The stereotype of men not asking for directions or clamming up until they explode is nonsense. And I was probably wrong to claim all women are passive aggressive and speak in code.

But I can't help make the generalization when so many of them my whole life have said things like:

"I didn't want to have to say 'Pick up those magazines.' I thought leaving them there for a week would clue you into the fact that they needed to be picked up...'"

"I don't want to have to tell you every time something needs to be done around the house. I want you to be able to recognize when things need to be done yourself."

My favorite, of course, is "I'm hoping you're going to change," which really means "act in accordance with the way I want you to act."

I never did figure out when it happened, but I've been taking orders from several women in my life for a long time. Yet I would never think of telling any of these people to change themselves, and trying to do so would be met with an extreme violent and indignant response. Why is it that some folks - women or men - just decide they get to doctate what the norms of behavior shall be, and expect everyone else to kowtow. My sister calls me up and dictates to me all the time and I just ssit there and say "Ok, you're right." Then I hang up and think "WTF?"

That magazine is such a fucking joke. We got a gift subscription and began throwing it away upon receipt after the first issue. Who need a magazine about de-cluttering your home, when all that mag is going to do is adding clutter by its very existence?!?

Yea!

In honor of the two of you:

A sudden blow: the tongue forked, speaking law
Above the conjugating girl, her thighs caressed
By his dark webs, her nape caught in his claw,
He holds her helpless breast upon his breast.

How can those terrified vague fingers push
The slick scaley gorey from her loosening thighs?
How can anybody, laid in that gray rush,
But feel the strange heart beating where it lies?

A shudder in the loins, engenders there
The broken wall, the burning roof and tower
And the Paigow/Slave story dead.
Being so caught up,
So mastered by the cold blooded shifter,
Did she put on his knowledge with his power
Before the indifferent anole let her drop?
Good god. This is pure crap.

Every time I hear that I picture Charlie Murphy's character in Chappelle's "Real World" spoof.

God, how was that guy overlooked for so long?
