You probably know this, but it is my understanding that you want to be positioned so that there's not as much of an angle between the mouth and the throat, and that when you feel it hitting the back push harder and swallow. Probably you should be holding your breath at least to start with, because if you are breathing the opening to the trachea, not the throat, would be what is available. The muscle that holds the throat opening closed/trachea opening open must be pretty tight, so since you can't go in and kind of pre-loosen, it seems like some pushing might be involved.
Not that I've put any thought into this. |
