While Ultimate can fairly be called hippie/crunchy/effete (what with its no referee/spirit of the game ethos), guts is nothing if not muy muy macho.

Guts: Two teams of five, 10 yards apart, spaced apart at arms-length. Guy on team A takes a running start from behind his line, and wings the disc as hard as he can at the other team. I forget if you get a point for a catch, or a point if you cause the other team to miss a fair (not too high, not in the ground) throw, but either way, it's a very very very difficult and painful game to play.

Dairy Cow Evaluation Score Card

There are five major classification traits on which a classifier bases a cow's score. Each trait is broken down into body parts to be looked at and ranked.

1) Frame - 15% 15 points

Rump, Stature, and Front End receive primary consideration when evaluating Frame.

2) Dairy Character - 20% 20 points

3) Body Capacity - 10% 10 points


4) Feet and Legs - 15% 15 points

5) Udder - 40% 40 points

The udder traits are the most heavily weighted. Major consideration is given to the traits that contribute to high milk yield and a long productive life. Listed in priority order, the descriptions of the traits to be considered are as follows:

Udder Depth - moderate depth relative to the hock with adequate capacity and clearance. Consideration is given to lactation number and age.

Teat Placement - squarely placed under each quarter, plumb and properly spaced from side and rear views.

Read Udder - wide and high, firmly attached with uniform width from top to bottom and slightly rounded to udder floor.

Udder Cleft - evidence of a strong suspensory ligament indicated by adequately defined halving.

Fore Udder - firmly attached with moderate length and ample capacity.

Teats - cylindrical shape and uniform size with medium length and diameter.

Udder Balance and Texture - should exhibit an udder floor that is level as viewed from the side. Quarters should be evenly balanced; soft, pliable and well collapsed after milking. _________________

Yeah, I liked it. Was it the best episode ever? Definitely not. The "sad" part was leaving that apartment, I guess -- the home base of operations lo these many years. Of course it was pat; it's hard not to be, I guess. They gave the fans a happy ending (no, not that kind of happy ending you pervs!), and it was fine.

I guess I'd have to say the best sitcom finale was Mary Tyler Moore -- that was pretty freakin' funny (I know I automatically qualify as a geriatric for even admitting I was alive when that finale aired, but there you have it.)

Since you're old and all that, the Dick Van Dyke show is having a show this Tuesday. It's not your typical retrospective where they all sit around and talk about how the show was, but it's an actual story line. Alan Brady wants Rob Petrie and Sally to write his eulogy. MTM of course is there.

Vermont-based. He woke up in bed with Maryanne Pleshette (spelling wrong I'm sure) and the entire new series was just a dream. Great surprise ending.

I think everyone's talking about the Vermont-based Newhart which ended with Bob in bed with Susanne Pleshett in their old apartment in Chicago and it was all a dream.
