I'd have gone with Clint Holmes' "Playground In My Mind", but that's a mere quibble. Well-played, lizard boy.

Some decent albums on this list, including a few I still have on 8-track:

Top Albums of 1973:

Aloha From Hawaii Via Satellite - Elvis Presley *
Billion Dollar Babies - Alice Cooper
Brothers And Sisters - The Allman Brothers Band *
Dark Side Of The Moon - Pink Floyd *
Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player - Elton John *
Goat's Head Soup - The Rolling Stones
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John *
I Am Woman - Helen Reddy
I'm Still in Love with You - Al Green
Lady Sings the Blues - Diana Ross
No Secrets - Carly Simon *
Seventh Sojourn - The Moody Blues *
Summer Breeze - Seals & Crofts
Talking Book - Stevie Wonder *
There Goes Rhymin' Simon - Paul Simon *
They Only Come Out at Night - The Edgar Winter Group *
The World Is A Ghetto - War *

Ummm . . . when you started speaking about him in terms of classicism in rock?

Why would that - should that - scare you? How many people are qualified to speak knowledgably about which cultural icons are false myths and which aren't? Cherish your education. Most won't ever get that far.

Hmm, not entirely sure what you're saying, but I think it is something nice, so thank you.

I think I should be entitled to at least one. Well, at a time, any way.

I don't see Bruce as blue collar. Shit, he wrote about LBI, which ain't cheap stomping grounds (even in the 70s). The misinterpreted point I made was that his characters were too regional and time specific for him to ever reach the leval of Dylan, Dead, Doors, Sinatra, Cash, etc... Johnny Cash was the supposed epitome of blue collar music, yet his characters appealed across the board, to everybody. Bruce doesn't fail because his characters are stuck in the Mill, or spreading tar on a road crew. Bruce fails in my book because his characters are stuck in Central to Southern Jersey in the 70s. People were enamored with that scene back in the 70s, but not any more. Bruce is a solid rock star who had the good fortune to burst onto the scene while there were no good rock albums being made.

But of course the man is insanely talented. Shit, he must connect with somebody. But for a music snob like me, he's just not cutting it. Close, but not quite there. He can arguably hang with Bobby, but doesn't belong in the same hotel with Jerry. And he's not qualified to shine Cash's boots.
I find it hard to see how a song written from the point of view of a firefighter in the World Trade Center on 9/11 (The Rising) or one written from the point of view of a soldier in today's Iraq (Devils and Dust) can be based on "characters ... stuck in Central to Southern Jersey in the 70s".

But at least you'll acknowledge that he's talented.

The one on the right -- no idea they were that good with the sex-change operations back then. Well, good with the body, if not the face.

I bet she (?) regrets shooting that cover well in advance of the days of commonplace computer airbrushing and retouching. And having such a fierce eyebrow/nose thing going on there.

From the ncs sock, this seems a little bit petty. Did you consider posting this under your Ty@50 sock?
