He's pushing me to move to Phoenix and work in some real estate investments with a cousin. I've heard that market is way overheated. Anyone know about Phoenix? Nice place to live? Good opportunities?

It's hot, but it's dry heat so it's not that bad.

Your coming from Philly. How fucking bad could it be?

That said, I hate Phoenix. Except as a place to go for mid-winter boondoggle CLEs and such. It's kinda like Florida in the desert.

I say this is a true hypocrite. Were I gifted with a killer rack and a nice ass, I'd probably be a Grade A mantrapper.

But I'm not. And I'm mad I've no such simple options for achieving wealth without work.

Perhaps if I actually did something I liked and gave a shit about, I'd want to do it a lot, and this would make make it "not work" and possibly even enjoyable. I raised that notion with my father by telephone this morning. He said two things:

"I told you not to move to that shithole you live in," and

"If you want money, you'll have to do things you don't like. I'd have done it differently, but I had to pay for you."

Great thing realizing the person you idolized growing up is a bigger cynic than yourself...
This post reminds me of the time that GWNC used a straightforward, no brainer Coltrane post to expound upon a visit to a Vegas strip club.

I have been posting for over six years. Jesus. We are going to be PMing pics of our grandkids.

I remember that time we met. Here is how long ago it was. You, me Multo and I think someone else but not sure. Multo was showing pics of mayber her birthday party and Slave was in one. Iw aslike, you are friends enough with a GA to invite them to a real life party? And you thought he was Asian.

That was a long time ago.

I was listening to Maladroit the other day and it finally danwed on me that Dope Nose is a play on words (Dope Knows). Am I the last American to get this?
Yes, considering your qualifier excludes Canadians.

The set list was pretty solid, I must say. FF also had a great set list. Looking at their set, I'm thinking I could join a Weezer tribute band today, as I have played basically all of these in the past. Then again, the Dallas supergroup "Weener" already is the best Weezer tribute in the world.

Set:

My Name is Jonas
Undone (The Sweater Song)
Surf Wax America
Buddy Holly
Say It Ain't So
Tired Of Sex
The Good Life
El Scorcho
Why Bother
Don't Let Go
Hash Pipe
Island In The Sun
Dope Nose
Burndt Jamb
Beverly Hills
We Are All On Drugs
This Is Such A Pity
Song 2 (Blur tune)
Perfect Situation

Maybe another song, but I was heavy with the Half & Halfs so my memory is a bit furry on that one.

[edited to add that they played both Getchoo and Slob last time I saw them at a club in Dallas circa 2001]

2. I nailed my first sockpost before you were out of lawschool.

I met my first GA before I even commenced with my first comeback. And now I am on like comeback 37. Thank god and the babyjesus for good genes and preternatural youthfulness.

eta: Slave's not asian?

I have a good friend I grew up with who lives in Phoenix and really likes it. Consider, however, that he grew up in the desert.

If you are considering it, head straight to Scottsdale. Live in Scottsdale. Try to work in Scottsdale. If you leave Scottsdale, only do so to go north into the mountains. Follow this advice and you'll like "Phoenix" a lot better.

It's a nice place between, say, Halloween and Easter.

Fiona Apple

Does anyone love this woman like I love this woman. New album is smashing as are her two others.

Can you believe she is now 28?

sebby- I think I told you I have tickets to My Morning Jacket. NYT recently reviewed a show they did.

Now the Buddy Holly song is in my head. Except really only the "wee-oo" and "oh oh" parts. Damn you.

Still lying, I see:

Initially, Harding called 911 and said she was attacked by two masked men who came to her home and assaulted her before she could escape.
Is it possible that she could result in a renaming of the entire "crying wolf" phenomenon?
