I'm a dude and I really liked "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." It was not, therefore, a chick flick.

That is all.

Yes, I realize that my dudeness would be more, uh, dudelike, if I didn't have a love for what The Pretty One calls "wicca music." Nonetheless, I am a man (yes I am, and I can't help but love you so).

Christmas is the deadliest day of the year. A leading cause of Christmas deaths? Festivity.

I have never cried in a flick. Ever. Only time I found myself really getting misty at some media form was watching David Bowie sing America at the Concert for NYC. I have that thing on the Ipod and occasionally it'll turn up (I keep the Ipod on random) and whatever I'm doing is immediately stopped dead. If you haven't heard it, you really ought to listen to it. It really digs in. By the time he hits "Counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike," I defy anyone not to have at least contemplated tearing up a bit. At a minimum, it blows you away.

ETA: I did once fall asleep during a date in which we stupidly went to see Ghost. Did not get laid that evening.

I like the way they dance around the possibly sub-par care on those days. Probably the only worse day to go to the hospital is the day after the new residents start.

You are dead inside if it doesn't get a little dusty in the room when Red finally sees Andy Dufresne sanding down his boat on the beach of the Pacific Ocean.

Surely there are enough Jewish, Hindi and Muslem doctors who don't give a crap about Christmas in this country (although perhaps not evenly distributed) that this isn't really an issue. Perhaps that's just an east coast bias, though.

It might be a tumor...

My dog had this little "bubble" thing on her leg. It was the color and size of a tick that is ballooned-up with blood. I tried to pull it off, and realized that it was no tick -- but some kind of growth (eew).

So anyway, I just left it there, but now it's grown quite a bit. It's now about the size of a kiwi (the fruit -- not someone from NZ), and it's pretty revolting to look at. In fact, I brought her over to my barn yesterday, and one of the barn managers said, "Eeew -- what's that thing on her leg?" (Mind you, this is a dude who shovels shit for a good part of his day.)

I think it's just some skin thing -- and it doesn't seem to bother her, but maybe I'll have a vet take a look at it. Better yet, I'll just have the equine vet have a look-see the next time she's at the barn, as my doggie will be taking her vacation there while we're on our vacation (see that? -- two birds, one stone, &c? -- they don't call me a know-it-all for nuthin'!).
Speaking of tumors, I was watching some reality tv show on Bravo, I think it's called American Runway, where designers compete to be, uh, designers, I guess. Anyway, the aspirants were given the theme of "Envy" on which to base their designs.

One of the contestants designed a dress that was a basic dress with a huge puffy red blob attached over the left boob. When asked how this related to Envy, she explained that she believed Envy was like a cancer, and this was expressed to the tumor depicted on her dress.

Who would wear a cancer dress?

You're not giving enough info. Who would wear a cancer dress designed by a second year Cadwalader associate?

By the way

in looking for that pic of Marla Singer, I came across movie-locations.com which may rival IMdB for time-wastingest site out there...

Celeb sighting

I know y'all hate these and think there should be some standard of interestingness to my posting celeb sightings around LA.

Does riding down from Barney's Greengrass in an elevator with Anna K. make the cut?

She was talking about how she'd had 2 cappucinos and 3 diet cokes with lunch, but the diet cokes were wattery, so she wasn't too amped up.

I very much wanted to touch the heinie, but didn't.

"I'd like to think the last thing to go through his mind, besides that bullet, was to wonder how..."

Hell, no, I didn't cry. You stand up and cheer at that ending.
