'Cause, damn, she was on something. It was actually disturbing watching her, with her eyes bugging out of her head and a Joker-style chicklet-teeth grin talking cheerfully about "this Pope's legacy - why don't you just give us a few items on that?" etc. Just ... frighteningly inappropriate in about every way. And weird weird weird.
Item 2 in funny dead-Pope news media moments: someone's Vatican correspondent being asked to explain the Blacks vs. the Whites as they relate to the papacy (they asked him to tell them who got to pay respects to the body before the public viewing, and one of the groups he listed was the Blacks). I mean, they did ask, but he actually started to TELL them. And they really, really didn't want to know. (He actually was doing a pretty good and surprisingly concise job of it when he noted the horror on the regular correspondents' faces and cut it off.)
Also amusing (well, to me; I thought of DTB) but unrelated to teh Pope was catching a bit of "10.5" (earthquakes make CA fall into the ocean) on the SciFi channel. One news report featured the caption "President Declares Marshal Law."

Too funny, the commentary at our house was "wow, she's had too many antidepressants or something." She was way too happy about the guy dying. It was just so inappropriate and that happy smiley face that she couldn't get rid of. Weird.

I knew it
In shift, Charles and Camilla delay wedding
Ceremony moved to Saturday due to conflict with pope's funeral
AFter all the talk that the Pope's funeral would not interfere with their wedding plans and HA - it was all a lie. I mean really, could you even think about having a wedding on the day of the Pope's funeral? I mean, I know it's not Princess Diana or anything, but wouldn't horse face want some attention on her wedding day?
They should have just said right away, "out of respect for the Pope and because we want any media attention, we're going to postpone our wedding until the press can fly here from the Vatican."

April fools recap
Wikipedia compiled some of the April fools events from 2005. They also have a section of real news mistaken for April Fools events.
WTF was the BBC wanting to interview Bob Marley about?

Pleasant reading until I came to the part where Mitch Hedberg died. Possibly the funniest stand up I ever saw. This fucking sucks.

His inspiration for No Woman, No Cry. And whether the bud in heaven is, in fact, tastier.

Not your greatest effort, but at least it was concise.

No, the split of the Guelph party into "black" and "white" factions circa 1300. The Whites took the previously Ghibeline (sp?) position that the Pope should stop trying to control the Italian city states through military force, while the Blacks remained pro-Pope and their families continue to enjoy certain preogatives with respect to the Papacy because of it.
You can see why no one really wanted to know.
BR(You probably were taught something about it (very vaguely) if you read the Divine Comedy in school (Dante was a White))C
edited to remove redundancy & fucked up spelling - never mind

RT asked me to work with you on your style and presentation- one thing i use as a general rule is that it's probably not a good idea to take on both Thurgreed and Paigow in a single post- just constructive criticism-YMMV!
