Quai des Orfèvres is the location of a French police station. It's kinda like Scotland Yard. Any film (from 1947!) where a blonde lesbian photographer has a crush on a brunette dancehall singer (who is the director's mistress in real life) should have something more to offer fashionistas than ovary jokes.

Black Sabbath is up there - way up there. A shade behind the monsters like Floyd, Hendrix, Stones, etc. Sabbath may seem campy and ludicrous at times, but they invented modern rock... 33 years ago. EVERYTHING you hear on AOR radio these days owes a debt to Sabbath. People look at their ridiculous behavior and Ozzy's terrible post-Sabbath shtick as indicative of what sabbath was. That's a mistake - if you go back and listen to Vol IV, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Master of Reality, you'll hear the blueprint for the Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Rage, etc...
S(whether modern rock is a good thing is another question)D

Melissa Rivers' Boobs
... are like putting a hood ornament of a Pacer.
S(if anything, they highlight the ugliness around them)D
PS: Why is it that we accept these talentless ugly children of celebs as heirs to the thrones of their folks? Joan is uglier than a bag of assholes, but she is funny. Her daughter does even play a good straight man for Joan - Melissa comes off like some dim child who's sitter was sick, so mommy took her to work for the day. Enrique Iglesias?

That picture AdL posted is sort of homoerotic. Those two guys in the back are (hehe) playing the other guys* instrument. I also dig the added touch of the knee pads.
*I will admit that I don't know who sings "Hot for Teacher" and that I have no idea who those three guys are. But I bet most of you don't know which one is Lance and which one is Chris so I don't feel all that bad about it.

Maybe they remember the Muppet Show episode with Buffalo Springfield.
Fondly remembering Sunday evenings, pot roast, and the Muppets...

Wait a minute--you think Joan is funny?
Also, Enrique made it without using his dad's name and only later started marketing under his actual name.

I agree on the Melissa Rivers issue, but Enrique Iglesias is pretty talented, and though I am sure his father's celebrity helped him get an in, he has certainly taken advantage of it to build his own rep.

But the early Elvis stuff (Sun Records and early RCA) is hardly watered down. Inspired by the blues and gospel that came before it, but not no more a rip-off than the work of the more creative elements of modern hip hop. And Scotty Moore's guitar kicked ass.

You are right about early Elvis (and by that I mean before the '56 "breakout" crap). Went to Sun Studios a couple years back and listened to some of the early stuff. Elvis was one of the greatest vocalists ever. But after RCA got hold of him, he turned into a moneymaking machine and it became less about the raw talent. The point is that he was one helluva vocalist (as opposed to a writer) so accusing him of ripping off or watering down is sort of off topic.
BTW, did Nashville on the same trip. Memphis rocks but the city of big hair was not nearly as fun. YMMV.

How the fuck can you not know Van Halen sang hot for teacher? I don't think there were any boy bands around when that was popular (maybe New Kids on the Block, but I'm not sure)

Umm, homoerotic? How about blatantly homosexual, at least David Lee anyway. Can anyone tell me how that guy ever became a HETERO sex symbol? Baffling.

The Beasties, Eric B and Rakim, BDP, PE... that's sampling.
Dre, Snoop... that's liberally using PFunk and seventies funk influences, and improving on the grooves.
Puff Daddy and that new Eminem song (Dream On)... that's theft. And bad theft. I have yet to see a single redeeming piece of work by P Diddy - he sucks completely in every possible respect.
S(fuck P Diddy)D

It's a mystery why anybody buys P Diddy's albums (and a mystery why he insists on dressing like a high-priced Italian whore, but that's a whole nother question).
But you are wrong, wrong about Dr. Dre or Snoop Dog improving on PFunk or other 70s funk influences. They're great rappers, fine. But they can't improve on the funk. They just can't.

I take it you haven't been married long and she hasn't had her body destroyed from multiple child births, yet.
