It wasn't "some guy"; it was Beverages & More, who realized they couldn't cash in on the Charles Shaw craze because of Bronco Wine Co.'s exclusive deal with Trader Joe's, but many other bulk wine producers have similar products, which got ranked by Wine Spectator as being 83 at best.

NBA News
Cleveland won the lottery, and with it, the right to pick LeBron James.
Detroit picks second, and DA is reporting they will pick Darko.
So, that means, most likely, Melo to Denver. Poor kid.

Thanks, leagl. Oh, and while I'm at it, thanks to e/o for not even mentioning the basketball game last night, much less gloating... I knew I liked you (or the anonymous profile of you that you present on this chat board) for a reason!

Since you asked so nicely, I'll attempt to refresh your memory, and that was point (#5), which you conveniently left off, I quote:
"Why do women always want to compete with men on this level? They can't. World class women athletes can beat the hell out of most males in whatever sport they're in, but they cannot compete with world class male athletes, period." Post #5861
"Sorenstam is naturally, physically incapable of competing with men on the same level in professional golf." Post #6127
Put these two together, and your central premise translates to:
"Women are naturally physically incapable of competing with men on the same level in professional golf."
Absent affirmative proof to the contrary, this is a completely asinine statement. With due acknowledgement to the physical differences between men and women, and acknowedging that in some respects, women might be disadvantaged because of these differences, it doesn't automatically mean that women are incapable of being competitive with men in PGA Tour events, unless your definition of competitive reaches an standard you wouldn't apply to most of the men on tour.
You have a lot of nice little hedges in your argument like she will not prove that she can be competitive with the guys on the tour until she qualifies (and doesn't finish dead last) in a major, and that if she was (by some miracle) competitive in this tournament it would only mean she played well in this particular tournament on a course that suits her. You also stated that that she probably couldn't qualify for her Tour card if she tried. Unfortunately, this is all just a convenient way of using semantics to show that your blanket statement on the subject (i.e. that women are incapable of competing with men in professional golf) can never be proven wrong, at least not by her.
First of all most men on the tour aren't in a position to qualify for a major. Second, because you and I both know it is 99.9% certain she will never pursue these options (Why would she?), you're safe (for the moment) in your blanket statement that no woman is capable of competing with men in professional golf. How big of you.
This is why I became convinced we were talking past each other, since I considered PGA Tour Professionals as a class world-class athletes, so that if she was competitive with them in this tournament, it would show that women (since she is one) could compete with men at the same level in professional golf.
Your argument that she chose this tournament because it played to her strengths is just smoke. Not every PGA professional plays every tournament anyway and those they choose to play I would venture to guess are chosen based on maximizing their chances for success. Why should you bitch about her doing anything different from what most of the guys on tour normally do?
IMHO, your points #1 and 2, were not worth spending a lot of time arguing about because unless the rules are changed, it's a fucking moot point, and you were consistent on these throughout. Wrongheaded -- but consistent.
As to #3, you were also consistent. But just because it may be harder for someone to compete, doesn't mean they are incapable of being competitive.
As to point #4, I could give less than a rat's ass about what some anonymous chat board retard thinks about me.
Point #5 is where you're really being inconsistent, and why I think you're full of shit when you say, "I hope she does well", because then your argument starts to fall apart under it's own fucking weight, if judged by normal non-Thurgreed standards. (See "hedges" above).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First off, let me note that in not one place in that exhaustive email did you actually say I was being inconsistent. You implied it in your last point because you had to cover your ass. And if you're going to quote me, you should go back to one of my first posts (before you even jumped in, I believe) and quote me when I said I hope she does well.
Second of all, either we have different definitions of "compete" or the "nice little hedges" you're talking about are so huge that they swallow your argument.
Yes. I'm talking about the PGA Tour as a whole when I say the players are world class athletes. Most players who compete earn their tour card one way or another. Most players play more than one tournament that fits their game to a "T." Hell, under your theory, Annika would be competing on a par three course of three holes. So, when I say, "compete," I mean actually compete. She may play well and make the cut, she may end up second to last (in which case you will be jumping up and down telling me how you won the argument). Hell, most people think that in order to be fair to HER, she should play in more than one tournament. So, finishing in the bottom third of this event and not making the cut (which, yes, I hope does not happen), is not really "competing." But I won't be yelling that at the top of my lungs if it happens because it's only one tournament (even if she finishes in the bottom 5%).
Saying that she won't play more than this event and this is why I have chosen to argue the way I have is ridiculous. If she thought she had a chance to compete on the Tour, she would do it. She doesn't, which is why she has only chosen this one event.
So, what happens when she doesn't make the cut? Does that mean she is competing at world class level? If I got a sponsor's exemption, I could play Thursday and Friday and not make the cut. Does it matter that she beat a few guys without making the cut? I would say, I would be impressed with that considering the natural physical differences between her and most men. But, if she played 1000 tournaments at The Colonial and never made the cut, would she be competing? No. You would argue that if she beat one guy in each of the 1000 tournaments that she has successfully competed.
Either way, I'm sick of discussing this with you. And I'm sure the board is as well. So, let's continue on PM or let it go already.

Before we knew the sex, we referred to the baby as "the alien" or just "Squirt." Once we knew the sex, I picked a name of the right gender and ethnicity that I was certain we wouldn't use. My family was certain that, having established the habit, we would keep calling him that once he was born, but it didn't fit him and was quickly dropped.
Let me know if you need help coming up with outlandish and completely unsuitable ethnic names.

Playing Ketchup
1. I saw in writing somewhere this week the phrase "Oscar winning actor Ben Affleck." File that one under "highly misleading."
2. Atticus and Fufu: The Girl on the Bridge (La fille sur le pont) is the best knife-throwing movie ever. Bar none.
3. Figures that in a draft 3 players deep, the Raptors would wind up with the fourth pick. Hope they trade it for someone who can help right away and help a healthy Vince, AD and Mo Pete get to the next level.
4. Sounds to me like the big hitters on this board will eventually learn one of golf's little truths, which is to slow your swing down and get a lot more consistentcy at the cost of a little less distance. I have a chance to play Southern Hills this weekend (going to a wedding in Oklahoma) so I today off to play one of LA's least fine public courses out in the valley. I scored an honest 92, which is about average for me. I hit my 5 irons 175, 6 irons 160, 7 irons 145, 8 irons 135, 9 irons 120, and pitching wedge about 100 (though I seem to be yanking or shanking everything with that particular club lately). I used to hit everything about 10 yards further, but have become much better and a little shorter. Of course, I also got fitted for my last set of Pings, which doesn't hurt.
In any event, my #1 tip for anyone who's shooting 100 and wants to get closer to 90 is LEAVE YOUR DRIVER AT HOME. I don't carry one anymore. I hit my 3 wood about 25 times per round though, with length off the tee varying from 200-250 (so much for consistency, but I never said I'm Annika).
Finally, my fiancee's family had a pet ferret they adopted in 1996. Her little brother named it Annika. She died three months ago, but I'm sure she was smiling today from ferret heaven. Good luck tomorrow, you crazy swede.
