Peterson trial

A juror in the Scott Peterson murder trial who apparently did her own research on the case was removed and replaced with an alternate Tuesday, and the judge ordered the panel to start all over again with their deliberations.

"We're going to send you back. Start all over again and keep in touch," Judge Alfred A. Delucchi told the panel on the fifth day of deliberations.

It was not immediately clear what the woman specifically did to get kicked off the jury. But a source told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity that she had apparently disobeyed the judge's orders to consider only the evidence presented at the trial.

Idiot.

Another one bites the dust

Peterson Trial Update
Judge sends home jury foreman (who had both medical and law degrees). No reason was given.

Laci -- Guilty of murder in the first.

Connor -- Guilty of murder in the second.

Special circumstances. Scott could get death or life w/o parole.

Literally and figuratively. If he gets life, he might do well to avoid the showers. At least he would be isolated from the rest of the prison population while on death row.

Peterson - 1**

**Will be convicted of two counts of premeditated murder; will not get the death penalty. People who are predicting acquittal are nuts --- he's not being tried in L.A. or S.F. There are parts of California that actually enforce the criminal laws, and where there are juries that help. (I do find it squicky that the indictment names the fetus. Not sure why I feel that way, but I do.)
I feel I should get partial credit for seeing through the bullshit. The "fetus is murder two" was an unexpected twist, but I told you this jury would return 1st degree. INCLUDING THE WOMAN WITH PINK HAIR AND TATS.

I love California.

How are we going to score this? What did we decide about lesser includeds? Is Peterson a "1", because he was convicted of everything, or a "3", because one conviction was a lesser included. I would say "3", but the description explicity says that a "not guilty" is required, and there wasn't one here.

1) Guilty as charged on all counts;
2) Acquitted on all charges -- defendant walks;
3) Guilty on some counts or lesser charges, but not all counts. (Must be at least one not guilty returned.)
4) Takes plea;
5) Charges dropped;
6) Other (Flees the country, dies before trial, etc.)
Is this the 'official' score so far?

1. Michael Jackson -
2. Scott Peterson - 1
3. Kobe Bryant - 5
4. Robert Blake -
5. Phil Spector -

Any news on MJ, Baretta, or Phil?

Not that anyone cares anymore, but today Geragos moved for a new jury for the penalty phase, in addition to change of venue --- uh-gain. I'm sayin' that if you get 1st degree from a juror named "Strawberry Shortcake" after five hours of deliberation, you're gonna get put to death everywhere by the City and County of Ess Eff. Since that ain't gonna happen, Geragos is going to have to suggest a magical new land --- perhaps one where people don't die when injected with cyanide.

Can we discuss what this trial is going to do to Geragos' career here, or does that belong in the Death Pool?
