I have teh panasonic GS-120 (I think that's the number, 3 ccd version, now the GS-250 or so). It's great. Works great with iMovie too. Low light's not the best, though.

Does that one have a firewire port? I liked that camera but seem to recall it being limited to USB.

When I did the research, I recall that a number of people had issues with Canon, but I don't recall exactly what. Seemed to think Sony was a better way to go.

I think there have been reliability issues according to consumer reports.

Yes, at least mine does. It's the usual 4-pin port, but you just get a 4pin to 6pin cable (I don't think any cameras come with the FW cable). Much joy.
(I think FW ports are fairly standard on videocams, not USB2; if it's not, I wouldn't get it)
ETA: The GS-150 (which is about equivalent to what I have) has FW and USB

Really stupid IPod Question
Okay, I am aware that to turn off my IPod, I am supposed to push the little pause button until the IPod turns itself off. But this only works maybe half of the time. Is there some secret to this?

Nope. But the touch buttons seem to have curious sensitivities at times.

It's an Apple product. When they work, they work very well. But sometimes, for no reason at all, they decide not to work. There is no solution to this. It's just the way it is.

Treo or Blackberry?
Assuming I ever have enough business to need one, which would you recommend and why?

If you are a heavy e-mail user, I would stick to a BB, especially if you have a blackberry enterprise server environment available. This combo gives you instant push email (every email you send and receive is wirelessly synced with your MS exchange/lotus server); wireless calendar sync; and wireless address book sync.
On the other hand, if email is not a priority, I suggest going with a GSM Treo 650.

I would be getting primarily for email, but as a solo, I don't know that the investment in an enterprise server can be justified.

If e-mail is your primary app, BB is a no-brainer, with or without the BES. Total cost would be less that $2000 to implement BES, and that will pay for itself in no time flat. We implimented a BES in our small office (less than 10 attys.) in the last year, and it's a very useful tool. PM me if you want to discuss further.

Mayhem
RICHMOND, Va. - A rush to purchase $50 used laptops turned into a violent stampede Tuesday, with people getting thrown to the pavement, beaten with a folding chair and nearly driven over. One woman went so far as to wet herself rather than surrender her place in line.
An estimated 5,500 people turned out at the Richmond International Raceway in hopes of getting their hands on one of the 4-year-old Apple iBooks. The Henrico County school system was selling 1,000 of the computers to county residents.
Officials opened the gates at 7 a.m., but some already had been waiting since 1:30 a.m. When the gates opened, it became a terrifying mob scene.
People threw themselves forward, screaming and pushing each other. A little girl’s stroller was crushed in the stampede. Witnesses said an elderly man was thrown to the pavement, and someone in a car tried to drive his way through the crowd.
Seventeen people suffered minor injuries, with four requiring hospital treatment, Henrico County Battalion Chief Steve Wood said. There were no arrests and the iBooks sold out by 1 p.m.
"It's rather strange that we would have such a tremendous response for the purchase of a laptop computer — and laptop computers that probably have less-than- desirable attributes," said Paul Proto, director of general services for Henrico County. "But I think that people tend to get caught up in the excitement of the event — it almost has an entertainment value."
Blandine Alexander, 33, said one woman standing in front of her was so desperate to retain her place in line that she urinated on herself.
"I've never been in something like that before, and I never again will," said Alexander, who brought her 14-year-old twin boys to the complex at 4:30 a.m. to wait in line. "No matter what the kids want, I already told them I'm not doing that again."
Jesse Sandler said he was one of the people pushing forward, using a folding chair he had brought with him to beat back people who tried to cut in front of him. "I took my chair here and I threw it over my shoulder and I went, 'Bam,'" the 20-year-old said nonchalantly, his eyes glued to the screen of his new iBook, as he tapped away on the keyboard at a testing station. "They were getting in front of me and I was there a lot earlier than them, so I thought that it was just," he said.
Most of them will be on Ebay by tomorrow.

RAZR
Anyone have this phone? Pros? Cons?
Also - has anyone purchased a new phone/plan via Amazon? For whatever reason, Amazon is offering much lower prices than buying direct from the carrier.
