She knows I meet up with LT people when I'm on trips and doesn't care. I tell her who I'm meeting up with and everything I know about the person and when I get back she asks if I had a good time. It's nice that she's not threatened at all. But, since I mostly meet up with guys when I'm on trips, I don't see how she could be. The FBetties are scared of me, I guess.
Friends and family don't know about it. Not that it's a secret, it's just never come up. I'm not one of those people who talk to my family every day, so when we do talk, it's about big developments rather than the minutae (sp?).

Now I am imagining MR and Mrs. MR sitting in bed having a conversation about me and SD. I am picturing Frances McDormand and "Norm" in "Fargo"...

The OM knows about this place and he posted here once. He has his own board, as I have mentioned in past, that was as based in submission fighting as this community was based in discussions of legal issues.
Most of my friends know I know I way to get really good information about things happening inside other firms, so they occassionally pimp me for information. They do not know how it all works though . . . or the number of times double penetration and cock rings arise.
When I have people in town, we use the old friend of a friend cover story. During last ACL, the FBers spent some quality time with some of the OM's friends . . . I think he vaguely referrenced some online element to them, but no one cared.

When it came to infirmation very few people knew I posted. This board a lot more people knew about, probably because I ran it, it took a lot more of my time, and people wanted to know what the hell I was doing. I've also made professional and personal relationships with some of the folks here, so as with RT my online life and off line life have merged a bit.
Of course Mrs. Eaze knows about the board. I had to explain why I was rushing for the cell phone when it rang at 3:00 in the morning to tell me the board had crashed. She's really into the Internet too, spent a lot of time in online communities before she met me and she didn't think much about it. I am sure if I still ran the board and still spent a lot of time on it, she would have a lot to say.

I think discussions of legal issues are a type of submission fighting.

My wife and one or two friends know about my "imaginary friends" online. My brother actually figured out who I was on the Stalin Board.
Nobody I work with really strikes me as the sort who would post here or find it interesting, so I'd be shocked if I found out that anyone from work was here. On the other hand, I've run across a few people from other places that I was sure were posters.
My wife has her own discussion boards and occasionally we talk about topics being posted, but not a lot.
I've met a fair number of people from here IRL. I haven't deposed any of the current posters though.

My SO knows about it, and thinks it's a weird though somewhat harmless affectation. She's seen the site briefly, and paid little attention to it other than to ask, "What's that picture of the guy in the hardhat about?"
I've not seen any reason to talk about it with co-workers or other lawyers, on the slight anxiety that they'll think of it as either less harmless, or more weird. Haven't really discussed it with my family, because it would have to be prefaced with long explanations of "computers" and "websites." Possibly "electricity," too. In any event, I don't really have the energy for it.
I've gotten to know a few of my imaginary Internet friends over the last few years, and (so long as you take care to avoid the freaks like Sidd), it can be a good thing, personally and professionally.
Mostly, I see my participation here as an opportunity to meet lesbians.

If I had friends, why would I waste my time here?

Either I brought that to the boards or that is not just a board thing. I do not count that in my arsenal (like I do, for example, TITS!) but I may have brought it. I am sure someone will set me straight.
Do you have three heads?

I keep telling you that I am not going to expose Mrs. Eaze to your kind of perversion. So give it up.

My wife knows about it, thinks it would be incredibly boring and could care less. Never comes up with family or friends since I don't like talking "shop" with them too much -- as it inevitably leads to "the lawyer is in" time at gatherings and I can't just get drunk in peace...

I would think anyone who knows any of us, armed with the knowledge "one of these people is me" could tell which. My wife is a photoshop whiz, so she not only knows she expects forwarding of any avatar compliments. Several people I work with know, because those who know the real guy behind the avatar needed to see his image actually doing something.
For awhile friends/family thought I had some great way of personally finding interesting site/news, and when passing on different conversations thought I must be working at a very interesting firm. Wife has explained that much of its from here, but really it is a way of personally finding stuff, just that its typically actually found by some poster.

A Message of Hope
You're right of course. I think secretly everything I do is an attempt to impress PLF. It could explain the bike shorts I'm currently wearing.
