True. 30 minutes ago I was in my car and Huey Lewis came on the radio. Coincidence?

2) I am going to read John Irvings books first and then Collapse. I would suggest Empires of the Word to anyone. It is a long read but it is fascinating if you are into history.
3) I can't remember the other posts I was going to respond to. Oh I know. Someone said Irving was a bad author. Fiction is all about taste but a Prayer for Owen Meany might be the funniest book I have ever read.

Spanky, you don't have to scroll then post. just post as necessary.
Owen Meany is indeed the Greatest Fiction Book Ever. I will pick up Irving this weekend. Penske is also going to read it.

The French and their colonists are equally bankrupt in the culture and morality departments. They should SFTU and stick a cork in it!

???????
This should be obvious but I am just going to state it for the record. I don't know if people are just being stupid, trying to be funny or what but here goes:
I don't like when the Japanese hold those festivals where the whole village goes out and bludgeons dophins to death.
I don't like it when people use live puppies and kittens as shark bate.
I didn't like it when the French tried to blow up a Greenpeace boat in dock in New Zealand, especially because they did it when people were on it.
I find different cultures interesting. But I never have and probably never will understand why the concept of culture can be used as an excuse to do something immoral or wrong. When I look at what people are doing, and trying to decide if it is right or wrong, immoral or moral, I could care less what the cultural norms are. The two are not related as far as I am concerned.

What about when cute cows have to watch other cute cows get bolts through their heads and/or the cute cows don't quite die and end up starting to get skinned while still alive?
What about rodents that get eaten alive by snakes? What about the mice and squirrels and birds that you let your cats kill? I mean, shit, sharks like puppies and kittens, and I am not so sure they will eat stuff that is already dead.

The Europeans and most of the world's left wing have no concepts of "right" or "wrong" or "moral" or immoral", everything is morally relative. The Clintons tried to enforce that twisted concept in America as a first step to communism. Thankfully the American people rejected its emptyness and impeached him instead.

My favorite part about that book was the kids crazy cousins. Especially the parts where they went skiing and when they first met Owen Meany. If I had been in charge of the movie the cousins would have been in almost every scene instead of being left out altogether.

I would prefer it if they used a system to insure that the cows died so they would not go through unecessary pain.

Man can't interfere with the natural process of nature. It just wouldn't work. All he can do is try and control how he acts and treats other beings. Why can't they use fish as Shark Bait? And yes, before you ask, I am more concerned about about puppies and kittens than I care about fish. Something to do with more complicated brains etc.
This of course, gets a lot more involved, but seems painfully obvious to me, and I find it hard to believe that I have to explain it to you.
