My collection is going to have to grow considerably if I'm going to ever be able to properly educate my kids.

Think about it, how many movies out there are there that you feel are absolutely necessary for people to watch to have a complete movie education? The ones where you just assume that the other person in a conversation has seen it. "What do you mean you've never seen the Princess Bride?" Probably in the thousands. The "classics." The not very classic, but damned good. The horridly bad but everyone else has seen them and it's important for the kids to know. The funny. The inane. The derivative and the movie that it's a derivative from. The ones that explain phrases or hair styles or pictures of their mother in various absurd getups.

It's taken me 30 years of dedicated movie watching to get to be halfway movie conversant. Certainly I'd want my kids to be the same.

And then there are the movies that they can't see. Titanic. Bambi (family tradition, I never saw it because my mother didnt' see it, and she didn't see it because she and her mother couldn't handle the opening sequence when she was five and they had to be escorted, in tears, from the theater.)

It's going to be difficult.
