I no longer place all the blame on Ted Kaczynski for the Unabomber thing. After reading a long interview with him, it looks to me like these people all blew themselves up.

True, dear. But a topless tattoo of your wife with the scrolling words "she's mine" emblazoned on your hairy bicep simply doesn't have the same cachet.

Seriously? Kids are way more expensive than diamonds.
On a related topic, did anyone else hear the news story about this teenager who killed both of his parents because they were hassling him about "partying"? I heard it on the news, but I cannot find a cite to it online. I will keep trying.
Note to Sebby - reason 402 not to have kids. If they don't get pregnant or get arrested, they may end up killing you. Having kids is a real crap shoot.

Must disagree, but it depends on the head chef and wine director and whether they just give you the cheaper stuff in the wine pairing. The same white won't be as good with all "white wine" courses and neither will the same red. It all depends on the ingredients. A good wine director can pick out a wine that best complements each course.
So unless you have a large enough group to order multiple bottles or you can order single glasses of the wine you want for each course, wine pairing isn't a bad idea.
That being said, I have a low tolerance for alcohol so the last time I went to a multi-course dinner with wine matched to each, I was feeling pretty tipsy by the time we got to the Chateau d'Yquem but how can you pass up the nectar of the gods? That was the best dinner ever -- Latour was the Bordeaux.

It's really not much fun. He dribbles his martinis, mumbles a lot about working too hard, falls asleep at the dinner table, then bolts after ordering but before the meal arrives.
If it wasn't for the great hand job he gave me in his sleep, the whole evening would have been a waste of time.

I assume you're a collector.

Yes, I am a collector. I collet them because I like them, because I've been given several very nice ones, and because my son loves them and I intend to pass them along to him one day.

Here is a breakdown of the negotiations: [bunch of Cashman's comments deleted]

Interesting that no entries such as "George took him to Monday Night Football game" or "George visited him at his home" or "George took him to dinner" appear on the Yankees web site. I guess George didn't want to get personally invovled in what was allegedly the highest-priority contract to be signed for the Yankees this off-season.
Look, that guy they got from the Expos is good, and Brown is as well. The point is that Pettite has won around 150 games for the Yankees, and a lot of his playoff and World Series wins came after some other schmoe lost the previous game. Maybe his wife would never have let him re-up with New York, but how do you let him go with so little effort? I can't count the number of times that I've seen some reference in the press to George schmoozing Sheffield -- why on earth didn't he pick up the phone even once to call Petitte?

Not always. God seems like a pretty smart guy, but he keeps pairing Manischewitz with lamb. After 4,000 years of this shit, even Elijah stopped showing up for dinner. And he was a total wingnut, for chrissake.

Hmmm. That is kind of wierd, though, that she cut it off and then brought it to the hospital wrapped in cloth. Didn't Loraina Bobbet throw John's in a field or something?
I like the quote, though, "[i]t wasn't immediately clear if charges will be filed against the woman."

The operative word being "can". Call me a cynic but I'm betting that at most for-profit restaurants that have scores of bottles (or more) of wine on their wine lists and an inventory of each to back up the listing, I think there are other factors that go into the wine director's choice of the wine. Especially when they sense that their patron doesn't know too much.

She cuts off his penis, and it's "not known if charges will be brought against her"?
Tough jurisdiction.
