P.S. I am so looking forward to watching the pros look like me this weekend at Oakmont.
I am probably whiffing here, but I thought that was Kenny Rogers (the singer, not the pitcher).

When I was little, I thought the next line was "four hundred children and crops in the field." I understood why she left.

But if I really say it, the radio won't play it.

While I think that there is a great deal of validity to Flower's take on the popularity of classic rock, sometimes it just is a case of changing taste -- dtb of 2007 listens to A Night at the Opera or the Flash Gordan soundtrack with a different ear than she had in 1979. So, it's not too surprising that she likes Queen now, but didn't then.

In fact, there are a number of bands that I liked then and don't now, and vice versa. Here's a few:

AC/DC -- hated then, like now
Journey -- liked then (Infinity and prior), dislike now (all)
Ted Nugent -- liked then, hate now
Earth Wind & Fire -- disliked then, like now

Nugent is awful. Not just musically.

No, it looks like my bad that I didn't know the Beat Farmers were covering Kenny Rogers. Makes more sense knowing Mike Krukow. Hear the Beat Farmers with Country Dick's version - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQecP8H9xMk complete with beer poured in his hat and "booger eating, dog fart of a time to leave me Lucille" and they change the lyrics - "Four ugly children and a crotch that won't heal."

True, but the right-wing gun nut probably knows how to spell "Gordon." Sorry about that, Flash (ah-ah!).

Nugent is actually a 60s rocker and did make 1 great song. So that puts him above 90% of the crap you worship.

I actually know nothing about Chicago radio and think you need to join the 90s. It's called an I-p-o-d.
Spoken like someone who has to listen to radio in a place like Philly. XRT streams online, in case you want to check out civilization.

Because sometimes you have to recharge the iPod.

The only thing more ridiculous than the concept of a "New Taxwonk." is the current Hank.

How much wine have you had? Are you suggesting I have never professed an affinity for 60s music?

Are you moving into heroin these days?

Great quote.

Have been trying to find the Long John Baldry version for decades.

Thanks for reminding me. It's now in itunes.
