For example, we have a logging system which logs all admin and mod activity. If something happens, i.e. a post gets deleted or a user is banned, or whatever, and it was done improperly, we want to be able to look at our logs to see who did it. If we have one general login, there is no way to tell who did what.
Additionally, some people moderate more than one forum, but not all forums. We set indiviudal mod privileges per account. That is the only way we can do it.
This really isn't up for discussion. There were only three people ignoring admins, and each person was ignoring a different admin. Since the admins being ignored rarely post, those people will have to endure a minor inconvenience going forward. Mods can still be ignored, you just have to PM me (I'm the only one who knows how to add it to the database) and I will do it for you, no questions asked and with absolute confidentiality.

This was a shockingly boring post to resolve a shockingly boring contoversy.
And don't even try to tell me that I am on someone's ignore list, because as crazy and stupid as the posters here are, none of them are that crazy and stupid.

Update on Infirm Deletions
the SFTM deletion on the Texas board (wasn't up this morning) now reads as follows:
Quote:
I deleted a post that appears to be an "internal email" purportedly sent by a partner to associates of the same firm regarding billable hours. It's our policy not to allow postings of internal firm email or memos. Share it through email at your own risk, or look for it elsewhere, such as lawtalkers, but please don't post it here unless it's otherwise been released for publication.

Who are the admins? If I start getting Penske's and ltl's posts on my screen, I may have to start posting more nasty pics like that bag-o-bones woman.

Note that a rule about when to use four semicolons would be a four-semicolon rule.
That is all.

I noticed you were trolling for new members. Do you get a toaster for each newbie?
And what's the big deal about the e-mail? It's not like there's names in it is there?

I'd rather that announcements from mods / admins come from posters than someone using an alternate login. Mainly because the alternate login sort of feels (to me) too anonymous and sock for the man-y. When you bitch about Slave's pronouncement, you know who you're talking to and it adds to whatever good or ill will you associate with him as Slave the poster. With some login that's rarely used, you don't really get a sense of who is behind the avatar. It's just a pronouncement from on high. Also, one of us, generally, is around, so you can flag us down with problems, like the PM thing, paigow's avatar issue, etc. We as admins have relative strengths and weaknesses, and ya'll have a general idea of what they are. MR with the tech stuff. Slave is amazing at getting people together and moving forward.
There's also the pain in the ass factor of remembering the admin logon password, etc, which doesn't impact you at all, but is, er, a pain in the ass for the four of us.
Anyhow, I'd like to think of myself as an approachable admin who is flexible, and this is a "this is sort of how I see it" post instead of a "this is what we're going to do" post. The line between admin and regular poster gets fuzzy in these types of posts.
ETA: Plus everything that MR said, much more logically and less touchy feely.

Moi?
Everyone here loves the Penske (or, at the bare minimum, a random sock of mine). Every day is Penske Day. This Board is like Penskeville. Its a Penskepalooza!!!
You must be confusing me with that PLF guy.

no prize for newbies. but if we want actually postings here with law firm information, then we need as many posters (not as many socks, Penske) as possible. exchange of law firm information is one goal. as I understand it.
all names were redacted from the postings (both here and at Infirm). Infirm/West just has a vested interest in protecting the law firms that it is in bed with. We don't.
