Yeah, but you missed the headline of the day on MSNBC...
"Mormon crickets invade the West"

“IT’S YUCKY,” said Amy Nisbet of Elko in northeast Nevada, where this year crickets made their first appearance in recent memory. “You drive down the street and they pop like bubble wrap.”

Sorry about that.

But speaking of Mormons, did anyone watch the Pulse last night? It's Fox's version of 20/20/Dateline type of tv news show. Last night's show involved a story of the "Kingston" family in Salt Lake City and about this girl who got out of the "family." She was force to marry her 23 yo nephew at the age of 15 and have kids with him. My question is, if they're all having kids with their nephews (which it appears that a lot of the family is), isn't that incest and won't that cause genetic problems?

Isn't a 15 yr old with a 23 yr old nephew a little unusual? I don't think everyone is marrying their nephews. For example, my nephew, at 2, is well under marrying age. Perhaps it is her uncle. Can't you still marry your cousin in some states? Or is that just in Shelbyville?

No, it was definitely her nephew. You know, when you have 7 wives of varying ages, having an older nephew is easy. She was his 4th wife and her cousin who helped to rescue her from the "family" was also married to her nephew. But here's where I'm confused, I thought for sure that combination would cause genetic problems.

From Fox Polygamy

The Pulse goes inside the country's largest polygamy clan in Utah, where 15-year-old Luanne Kingston was forced to marry her 23-year-old nephew.

Heather Nauert has the story of the woman's dramatic escape.

For a disturbing (very old) snapshot of incest in action, check out Velazquez' (?) portraits of the Hapsburgs, who were exceedingly inbred even for royals. Apparently they all had the exact same problems generation after generation and man does it show. Eeek!

So..are you superstitious?

http://www.emode.com/emode/tests/superstition.jsp

Apparently the fact I knock on wood and throw salt over my shoulder now and again, does not make me so. Go figure.

You waste no energy on superstition. You won't even entertain the thought that crossing your fingers can really change your luck, or the number 13 contains some kind of curse. Congratulations, you have complete control over your own destiny.

I haven't even heard of a lot of the superstitions listed in that test before... I, like leagl am apparently not superstitious. I still don't like breaking mirrors though.

What's Your Comfort Cocktail?

Well, I do enjoy a festive cocktail and a party atmosphere. And I always love a New Orleans themed place (whats that place in Soho called again?)

paigow, you're a Southern Hurricane

You've got the charm, charisma, and energy to be the life of any party. Any room lights up when you walk in, and people can't help but flock to you. Whether it's your incredible zest for life, or the fact that everyone knows you turn the fun dial up about ten notches, you are always a welcomed guest in any group

Southern Sparkler

The bottom line is — you're a complete prize. Just like the South, you've got that fun, sweet, charming personality that immediately draws people to you. It appears that you embrace each moment fully and love to have a good time. You've got a gift for lightening up the mood with your silly sense of humor and with the unique levity with which you approach life.

Let's not forget to mention your skills in the romance department — you've got the flirty moves that can attract anyone you've got your eye on. It's as if you cast your spell and there's just nothing left for the victim to do but fall for you completely. It's a great talent to have! And once people know you, they fall even further for your sweet, kind-hearted, caring ways that make you someone everyone wants to have around. So maybe it's time to order a cocktail that can complement your charm.

(so co, grapefruit, pineapple and club soda?)

My result:

You certainly don't let superstitions dictate your life! You know that crossing your fingers can't really change your luck, but you don't dismiss them completely either. Maybe you entertain them just for fun.

Like NCS, I hadn't heard of many of the superstitions.

Hi Y'all

Ok, emode is fucking with me. As it is calculating my results it keeps telling me things about my birthday. Leagl, did you know you were born on a Friday? Leagl, did you know you are 372 months old?

Hey Emode, FUCK YOU!

Sparkler my ass.
