Hearing "Don't you die on me. Don't you dare die on me!" makes me physically ill, so I'll go with that.

TM
In The Abyss, Ed Harris said something to Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio like "Don't you die on me. Don't you dare die on me, you bitch!" I think they were exes, and her character was supposed to be bristly. And she didn't die. She also didn't kick him in the nuts, which he deserved, because I'd be pretty pissed off if those had been the last words I heard before slipping into the sweet hereafter.

What about "Peace, out!"? Is that O.K.? It seems like that should be O.K.

First of all, Kraftwerk = phenomenal? What am I missing here?

Worst movie line that I can think of right now: Andie McDowell at the end of Four Weddings & a Funeral asking "Oh, is it still raining?"

Has anyone seen "Miracle"? Any good? I have heard good things and was this close to going to see it on Saturday but I didn't (mostly because I could not pass up the opportunity to see Sheldon Souray without a helmet. (sigh)). It looks very cliched - on the other hand it looks like a movie I would otherwise like. And I would like to see how Kurt Russell plays Herb Brooks.

Maybe. Did you grow up near 8 Mile? If you're from even 9 or 10 Mile its probably okay. But further north it might be an affectation.

Well, I wasn't going to break down Saturday into phenomenal and not-phenomenal groups. That being said:

Kraftwerk = not phenomenal

That line has been grabbed and converted for unhip anglophiles everywhere by Travis, in their new song Peace The Fuck Out. Not their best work.

You've already taken the best one.

Most: Any statement in which one character predicts that he can "make" a woman fall in love with him. It's all just a PG version of "Before the night is through, she shall have my gook." The unvarnished version makes for a better movie premise anyway.

Least: "See what happens, Larry? You see what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass?" Runner up: "Put . . . ze candle . . . back!"

Grammys

The most surprising thing about the Grammys was that I really enjoyed some of the performances last night:

Prince and what appeared to be the Revolution
Black Eyed Peas
Foo Fighters
OutKast with the USC band

The best of all was the funk performance. I loved seeing EWF perform with OutKast. You all know how I feel about Robert Randolph & the Family Band (who lost both nominations, but won new fans). I am also a huge P Funk fan, including seeing them live, but damn that ending sucked. I think a rehersal would have been nice.

As for a fashion review, fashionista, please. The only comment other than "what the fuck is s/he wearing" was when Madonna came out. Then it switched to "Britney wishes she could look that good when she's old."

What is the most cliched or trite movie line you can think of?

TM definitely used the most awful cliched line.

I will go with the oft-used "We've been looking forward to my retirement for so long. I bought a boat, and we're going to Florida."

You already know he's the first guy killed who must be avenged.

stellastarr*

so I listened to their disc yesterday after seeing them in the Coachella line-up. I got the disc for free from a friend at RCA records a few months ago, so figured I'd give it a spin.

it made me laugh (and not in a good way). it is an amalgamation of B-52s (lead vocals and backup chick vocals), The Smiths/Morrissey (lyrics) and later Cure (guitar, some vocals).

before listening to it, I would have been hard pressed to name a way that a band so obviously influenced by the above bands could truly suck, but now I know it is possible. so no, I won't be rushing to make sure I hear every note at Coachella.

The inevitable "be careful" in slasher movies just before the next victim heads into the attic/basement/barn, etc. Usually without a weapon of any kind.
