Have heard of the brand; do not own. Not straight in the calf? Did you go for tapered, then? If so, nevermind because I cannot wear those.
Most hated current look: ankle/above ankle boots with above-knee skirts (any skirts, really). I keep trying to open my mind to it, but I just hate it.

Does "above ankle" encompass "up to knee"? Or are you intending to discuss boots that do not cover the calf but are worn with skirts?

I've been ordering Lillet for years (I can never think of good drinks to order, and I don't like beer much). Now everyone is going to think I'm trying to be like James Bond. As if.
Which reminds me - today when on a quest for corduroy pants, I bought a new brand, because the brand I usually buy in corduroy (is that spelled right?) that the store carried were all very straight legged in the calf, which I don't like. So anyway, the salesgirl brings me this unknown (to me) brand, and THEY ARE PERFECT. The brand name is James. I have never heard of this brand, so I'm pretty sure the fact that I have this unknown brand of pants makes me cool now.

Once I was walking behind this girl with beautiful long red hair, and a very nice walk and butt. I caught up to her at a light, and I could read that her jeans were"Rosehips" brand. For a redhead with a perfect ass, Rosehips is a perfect brand choice.

I still have not found perfect leather boots, [tall to the knee, black preferrably] I may be getting a cole-haan gift cert for my birthday and the holdiays. I am happy with my black suede ones.

not to be a Timmy, but "discuss" is a poor word choice in your post. Perhaps you could edit to "include?"

dtb ordered it, making it de facto "trendy" and "now."

that post could be called "how to be number 2."
if dtb ordered it, it is classic.
dtb floats above the waves of the sea of trendy.

I almost tried that today with my favorite pair of ankle boots, didn't like the way it looked and went for the brown suede lace up knee high boots instead.
The black lace up ankle boots (which may very well be my most useful pair of footwear) are almost universally reserved for trousers, though every now and then I'll wear them with a shorter skirt for a sort of punky look, since they sorta kinda have a Doc Martin feel about them.

Tapered so that you look as though you're an inverted bowling pin? Yeah - nobody can wear those - I have no idea why they're making such a comeback. Even the mannequin with 13-inch thighs looked stupid in those tapered things.
I bought three pair, one with a flared leg (boot cut?) and two straight leg, but not so riding-pants-y in the calf. Riding pants are not particularly flattering for most people (ok, they're not so flattering on me), unless you are wearing the boots that are supposed to go over them. Which I will not do in the streets of NYC.

Yes, I seem to recall a certain conversation with a certain someone about how the name of the jeans was also the name of a person!

Insert "slightly" before "above ankle."
