Really? Hmmmmm

I like the idea in principle, but I've always appreciated the aesthetics of the contrast the well groomed carpeting provides, even if it is harder to work with.

I saw it there first, too. Isn't the Magic Linking Thing fun? Particularly fun when used to link to other posts here. :boots:

Let us pause for a moment in the memory of the dearly departed who pioneered the use of such linking, at least in my own little world, and created wonderful things with it until they were taken from us too soon.:sniffle:

edited to put the "r" in pearl jam, the absence of which has been making me wish I was e/o

is the theory here that if a woman is a good athelete, she must be on steroids?
In re Serena Williams - I'll quote none other than Austin Powers:

You must admit she is rather mannish. Really, if that is a woman she must have been beaten with an ugly stick

PS -- In case any of you were wondering whether every post of mine from now on will have the word "web-fu" woven into the timeless prose, the answer would be "yes indeedy."
"Bottle Rocket" - first movie from Owen/Luke/other brother Wilson. 1996 I believe.

I think everyone who I forwarded your PMs knows exactly what I am talking about.

Oh, and I am sorry for bringing out your worst case paranoia and stupidity.

Now I am REALLY gone and no amount of tennis posts are going to keep me here.

And leagl, I think you need to reread your FB history books or get the Emmanuels from Ollie or someone.

nope. that's why i phrased my question as a question.

from your clarification, it sounds like the theory (one theory) is that if a woman -- or perhaps any person, male or female -- has certain muscle size and/or shape, they must be using steroids. is that closer to the mark?

i wouldn't dispute that steroid use results in muscle mass, etc., but i do think it's insulting to athletes who work very hard to do what they do to assume that i can tell just by looking at someone that they use steroids.

i know some people do use steroids. and not all athletes work hard. but i also think the human body can do astonishing things, and varies immensely in terms of shape, size, strengths and abilities across people.

am i spelling athlete wrong? looks odd.

Theories and muscle mass and Serena, oh my!
I don't know that the original post was really theorizing on anything. It seemed to me like just a comment.

Venus and Serena

Speaking of tennis players, did anyone else read the article where Venus is starting her own interior design biz? I'm not sure if she's just planning for the future after tennis or if she's tired of everyone pointing out that her little sister is beating her and planning on getting out sooner than expecte.

Either way, I'm hoping the Williams' sisters taste in tennis outfits isn't a glimpse of their design sense.

Call me crazy, but I think she's pretty and has a beautiful smile. She is a ... um, powerful woman, but I don't think that means she can't be considered pretty.

Shoot -- and can't figure a way to work in "web-fu" somewhere -- wait -- I just did!

And of course they're not men. They're just better tennis players than you.
I played tennis with Melissa Rivers last week. She might still be lingering from the effects of spending two weeks in the Aussie Rainforest, but she SUCKED. No backhand at all. And don't get me started on her serve . . .

Bottle Rocket is a must see movie. If you liked Rushmore or Royal Tenenbaums in the least, go see Wes' first (and in many ways, best) movie. Plus, Inez is HOT. And it's got Applejack/Kumar. I will not debate this.

Finally, WTF is "squishing your head," Paigs. If'n you're referring to the Kids in the Hall set-piece, it's "I'm crushing your head," (which can only be countered by the "nobody home" thumb gambit). So: NOBODY HOME.

Resume normalcy.

A. Sorry if that came off bitchy.

B. There's no absolute, and exercise will do great things, but when a certain stage of muscle development is reached, yeah, the prediction of steroid use is fairly reliable, esp. when combined withe the presence of some other physical changes they provoke.
