Number transfer

Cingular sucks. They totally have fucked up the number transfer. Their website says number transfer will occur within a day, and the email confirming my order said that the phone (and accessories I ordered) would be delivered in 3-5 business days. Well, I ordered it on November 24. If you look at the date on this post, it says December 13. Math is not my biggest strength, but that seems like a lot more than 3-5 days. I called over a week ago, and they said that there was a problem with the transfer (uh, it would have been nice if they had contacted me to tell me that -- how the fuck am I supposed to know that's the problem, by calling a TV psychic??) and after getting transferred around a lot, I ended up with some technical department and was on hold (with someone intermittently coming on and asking me questions like for my zip code again, for what company I was switching from) for 45 min and then got disconnected. I called back, and whatever fuck-up customer service person I got wouldn't send me back to the technical people but told me that everything was fine and that my phone would come by Wednesday (the 10th). I called back today and was told that the phone is on back order. I was like, as of when, I ordered the thing Nov. 24? The woman was very nice, and looked, and said it showed as ordered on December 10th. What the fucking fuck is up with that??? Then she couldn't find the number for checking on online orders for number transfers, so I had to fuck around on their slow-loading website to find it. Oh, I almost forgot, the first time I called customer service today, I got disconnected. And, really, I have been being nice. So, then I call about the number transfer, and get another nice woman, who says she will change the due date for the number transfer to Dec. 14, which, of course, is a fucking joke because (a) I don't have the phone and probably won't get it for a while and (b) I ordered the number transfer Nov. 24. She said to call back in 30 min to make sure it had gone thru, and suggested that a local store might have the phone available immediately and I should try calling them. I actually considered that quite helpful; far more helpful than the people I talked to last week.

So, while waiting, instead of calling the cingular store I called my existing provider to find out why I suddenly have only like 100 min a month or something, and got a very nice lady who signed me up for a new plan that is much, much, much better for the same price and supposedly won't expire, found a promotion for a phone like I want for it to be free, said not to buy the car charger thing from her because it would be cheaper at the store, gave me a $50 credit, and competently described ways to fix it if I ended up going over my minutes and said that the phone I was getting was a little hard to program and I would probably end up calling in for help and that I should ask them to set up one-touch VM while I was on the phone.

Apparently, today is National Non-Sucky Customer Service Day. You'd think they'd publicize such a holiday -- it could be bigger than Christmas and New Years put together.

That is all. Now I will be calling Cingular to cancel.

my second cousin is VP for customer Service at cingular. Last night, after your P. board post, I called her and asked her to really fuck up your account. I should have called this AM and told her not to, but forgot. i'm really, really sorry!
