New Kerry Book
Quote:
BOOK CLAIMS KERRY WAR 'FABRICATIONS'
**Exclusive**
A veterans group seeking to deeply discredit Democrat John Kerry's military service will charge in the new bombshell book UNFIT FOR COMMAND:
Two of John Kerry's three Purple Heart decorations resulted from self-inflicted wounds, not suffered under enemy fire.
All three of Kerry's Purple Hearts were for minor injuries, not requiring a single hour of hospitalization.
A "fanny wound" was the highlight of Kerry's much touted "no man left behind" Bronze Star.
Kerry turned the tragic death of a father and small child in a Vietnamese fishing boat into an act of "heroism" by filing a false report on the incident.
Kerry entered an abandoned Vietnamese village and slaughtered the domestic animals owned by the civilians and burned down their homes with his Zippo lighter.
Kerry's reckless behavior convinced his colleagues that he had to go -- becoming the only Swift Boat veteran to serve only four months.
The Kerry campaign is planning to vigorously counter the charges and will accuse the veteran's groups of being well-financed by a top Bush donor from Texas, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
"They hired a goddamn private investigator to dig up trash!" charged a top Kerry adviser traveling with the senator late Tuesday. "This is pay for play, and the dirtiest of all dirty tricks ever played on a candidate for the presidency. How low can they go?"
Kerry supporters are comparing the effort by the veterans to the Arkansas State troopers tell-all against Bill Clinton.

You're early. According to Bush Reelection Doctrine, you're supposed to law low and stay the hell out of the news until Nov. 3.
What the hell's the matter with you? You think Bush wants people to remember the architects of the Iraq war, and how artfully we've managed the occupation?
This is election time, soldier! Listen to Rove, and get back in that closet. Otherwise, people might vote Democrat.

National Political Party Seeks Candidate for US Senate

Then again, looking at the list of people who showed up today to be interviewed, Keyes may not be a bad choice....
-- Ice Cream magnate Jim Oberweis, who finished second in the primary and ran very scary ads on TV about illegal immigration.
-- Retired Air Force Gen. John Borling, who finished sixth in the primary (whackjob).
-- Norm Hill, who finished seventh and showed up uninvited today (whackjob #2).
-- Chirinjeev Kathuria, who finished in eighth and last place (whackjob #3 -- suing Chicago Tribune for expose they did challenging his resume).
-- Former national drug-control official Andrea Grubb Barthwell (named in sex harassment suit for admittedly condoning harassing conduct).
-- Conservative businessman John Cox, who already is Republican candidate for Cook County recorder of deeds (ultra-ultra-conservative).
-- Martin Ozinga III, president of Ozinga Bros. Inc., an Alsip concrete company.
-- Terry Barnich, former chairman of the Illinois Commerce Commission and former chief counsel under Gov. James Thompson.
-- Steve Burgauer, the 2002 Libertarian Party of Illinois candidate for U.S. Senate.
-- Andy Martin, who changed his name from Anthony Martin-Trigona, a perennial candidate in Illinois and Florida elections (whackjob #4, also denied admission to IL bar allegedly for frivolous lawsuits and disparaging comments about the judiciary as a litigant).
-- Daniel Vovak, a Florida resident who ran against George W. Bush in the Iowa primaries and whose chief claim to fame is that he wears an 18th Century-style powdered wig (whackjob #5, sign this guy up!).
Looks like I'm voting for Obama. (Not as strange as it sounds -- I've met him and actually gave him $$$ for a congressional primary run 4 years ago).

That does it. Kerry may as well punt the undecided Drudge Report readers.

Study: California taxpayers subsidize Wal-Mart workers with Medicaid, food stamps and other taxpayer-backed assistance programs at an unusually high rate, to the tune of $86 million annually.
Wal-Mart: You failed to account for the fact that many of our uninsured workers are eligible for dependent coverage through their spouse or parents, or through Medicare.

Do you ever shop there? At any other discount stores? Why?

I admit to shopping at Target, because they are an excellent source of disposable children's clothes, like Old Navy without the pretension. I have no idea of their union status, but they have a higher profile in this region and are not infamous around here for being poor employers.
When I lived in a part of the country with more Wal-Marts, I occasionally shopped there out of necessity. Wal-Mart's store designs suck, and their aisles were not well-kept. Boxes of merchandise were opened and re-taped, etc. I avoided going there for that reason, not for political ones.

The real question to be answered is how much more would the taxpayers have to pay for them if there were no Walmarts for them to work at? Those mom and pop stores that everyone cries are going out of business because of Walmart don't offer health insurance to their workers, either.

Uh, what about U.S. taxpayers, who pick up most of the bill for food stamps and medicaid (and medicare).
As for the California taxpayers, shouldn't their ire be directed at shiftless California state employees, who are subsidized at a tune far louder than $86 million.

The walmarts that I have been to in NoCal are filled with people who look to me like they are low wage earners. I generally avoid Walmarts because I don't like being around the lower class people who shop there. But I recognize that these people need to shop at Walmart in order to be able to feed their 5 or more children.
At least here on the peninsula, the Walmart is not filled with techies with stock options trying to save a buck. It is filled with people who have to shop there to be able to make ends meet.
I wouldn't go near a walmart again after I once went to the Walmart in the east bay (I over there for another reason). I guarantee you I was the only person there who made more than $15k a year.
