That elevates it to "cinema."

That's just nitpicking, isn't it?

The next generation's Peyton Manning?

QB's and coaches always get more credit. Just like during the NCAA tournament, when it's "Coach X's this" and "Coach X's that" Go listen to John Madden if you want appreciation of interior linemen.

And carolyn bessette isn't even rich looking--she's inbred looking, without bothering to spend her money to get rich looking.

I agree, but she did seem to have style. Which is much better.

I have no problem with Brady. Hell, if everyone's going to suck his dick, why shouldn't he let them? It's more a criticism of the commentators who try to create that one standout player when there isn't one. That's what makes the Patriots so damn good. They're solid in every aspect of the game.

Stop squinting. I never said he was a whiner and I never said I didn't like him. I think he is enormously talented. But, when your offense scores an average of a dozen touchdowns a game, but can't come up with one when it counts, something is wrong.

I actually think it's Dungy's fault for letting Manning audible as much as he does. Manning was out-thought by the Patriot coaching staff. Take that responsibility away from him. He clearly can't handle it in the big game.

He only got that much praise because he was a rookie. If he was not a rookie he would have receive about the same amount of credit as the QBs from Baltimore and TB in the years they won the Super Bowl.

Did you like Bob Roberts?

I'm the first to insist that a movie is worthwhile based solely on having a beautiful look, and think "realism" is hugely overrated (in both design and acting), but there are a number of faux-doc films that I thought were quite good, often because of (not in spite of) their attempted realism.

Speaking of documentaries, I watched the Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson on the weekend - I had tivo'ed it when it was originally on. I'm not a huge fan of Ken Burns, but I liked it. Did anyone else see it?

I think that Bob Roberts was a documentary that just happened to be filmed a few years before the events in question actually happened.

Nice of you to stick up for the Southern boy.

As for Brady, he just. wins. football. games. He won two Super Bowls without much of a running game. He can throw the short pass. He can throw the long pass. He spreads it around. And he doesn't make mistakes. Maybe the problem is that he makes it look so easy.

Didn't see Bob Roberts. If it's a mockumentary or satire, it doesn't fall in the same category in my opinion.

About Schmidt was one of those "take a look inside the life of an ordinary guy" movies, where the only real goal seemed to be to make it look as real as possible. The problem is, if you knew the main character in real life, you would ignore him. If someone told you any of the stories shown in the movie, you would yawn and change the subject. If that's the case, why the hell would anyone want to sit through it? Seeing how "real" the director can make the story seem is pointless if there is no story.

Have you seen it?

It's tough to take seriously a movie review by a 30ish guy who thinks the movie Stripes was so cool he's using it for his avatar. Hint: there' a reason why Amazon tell you on its Stripes page that other dorks who bought Stripes also bought Fletch and Caddyshack.
