This guy's death saddened me because he seemed to truly enjoy his life (I glean this from interviews I've seen, not his on-camera shtick, though that indicates an irrepressible enjoyment of life). He also did something good for people, and as goofy as he was, was a pretty inoffensive and entertaining freak. The world can't get enough of those.
But I guess he's lucky in the end; he went out doing what he liked and it was quick.

An irrepressible enjoyjment of life? Who the fuck died and made you a middle-aged, wistful Pollyanna?

Well, as long as your source is a self-promoting windbag who openly brags about his own staged antics I take it back.
My son loved him and we read enough about him to know that even though he may have been a bit of a showman, he was also a committed naturalist.

Not for too much longer, though. Slaughtering horses for human consumption may soon be banned by Congress. Tell Atticus to blame Ferdinand.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I couldn't watch the guy either. But he seemed to dig what he did, and a lot of people liked him, and from what I read, he championed environmental causes pretty heavily... So on the balance, unlike so many people (particularly in show business), he's a net loss to humanity.

Really? I always saw him wearing clothes. That goofy khaki get up. I suppose that was for the cameras.
