I have found my soul mate!!

Thanks to same-day delivery in Manhattan, I received my copy of "Eats, Shoots & Leaves" yesterday, and all I can say is, FINALLY, a kindred spirit (the author, Lynne Truss)!

Text from the book illustrating our comparable attitudes toward this urgently important subject follow. (I hope this isn't some kind of copyright violation.)
  • It's tough being a stickler for punctuation these days. [...] Everywhere one looks, there are signs of ignorance and indifference. [...] Part of one's despair, of course, is that the world cares nothing for the little shocks endured by the sensitive stickler. While we look in horror at a badly punctuated sign, the world carries on around us, blind to our plight. We are like the little boy in The Sixth Sense who can see dead people, except that we can see dead punctuation. [...] No one understands us seventh-sense people. They regard us as freaks. When we point out illiterate mistakes we are often aggressively instructed to "get a life" by people who, interestingly, display no evidence of having lives themselves. Naturally we become timid about making our insights known, in such inhospitable conditions. Being burned as a witch is not safely enough off the agenda.

I think I am in love.

(It's really a very funny book, and an enjoyable read -- even if you're not as obsessi.. uh, particular about punctuation and grammar as, say, oh, I don't know... I?)

Can we return to basic principles here -- namely, if you are going to post pictures that are not work-appropriate, that you post a link with a Spree instead?

Women in lingerie are at best borderline, and having your secretary walk in just as you scroll to such a pic on the board can be a bit....awkward. Or so I've heard.

Apparently they took that whole lecture by Carolyn and Trump about not using their bodies to sell themselves very seriously.

I'm sure Trump meant the lecture seriously as well.

And yes, we can, as far as the spree.

Folks please remember that different offices have different levels of tolerance for this stuff. When in doubt, post a link. You don't need to have the image on the board, it is not a big deal for someone to click on a link.

And no, it isn't May yet.

Sorry. I guess we have different definitions of 'work appropriate'. This kind of stuff hasn't been criticized in the past, so I thought it was okay.

I'll spree lingerie photos if everyone else promises to spree Jacko photos. That shit is offensive.

Yes, we need to spree that kind of stuff.

That being said, you can all go to the following link: User Options and take care of this problem for good.

In the third section down, titled "Thread View Options," there is an option that says "Show image attachments and [img] code in Posts?" If you select "No" for that option, you will never see images in posts, but will always get a link instead.

That's what I have my options set to.

You can also turn off avatars and signatures on that page if you want to be even less conspicuous when you are viewing the forums.

Don't you love this software?

Anna Nicole before pharmaceuticals.
Anna Nicole is a good example of how the ratio works. When she was hot, her ratio was great, even though her waist would have been huge if put on another woman. Here she is when the ratio was ideal for her:

I think she had a good ratio even after she left her hot phase and entered into her big-girl-but-attractive phase.

When she got fat, obviously her ratio was blown to hell.

You'd think all the blow would've counteracted that.
