I asked Wonk if he wanted me to wear it on Thursday, but he felt the temptation would have been more than he could control.

Next time. As it stands now I have no choice but to come in January, so there will be another PenskeFest and just because people will find a commando skirt in january even more shocking, given the temps, I will be sure to do it!

Actually I will be buying a new skirt for PenskeFest2004, it would be gauche to wear the same one.

Agreed - I haven't seen most movies that come out either.

I know, but not without reason. It's a great movie. That was our 5th grade play. My lines consisted of "Who rang that bell?" followed by "Well, why didn't you say so?"

Discovery/BBC.

Random, uninvited, untimely addition to the "black Irish" discussion: I've always heard this applied to the dark hair/eyed Irish (not famine immigrants), and while I know the "Armada" explanation is the sentimental favorite, my understanding of the coloring differences is what an old prof of mine termed the "Iberian" explanation: the black haired Irish are descended from the original immigrants to the British isles, who predate the (central asian/eastern european red-haired) Celts by a good long while, and who are believed to have arrived in Britain from northern Africa via the Iiberian penninsula without the usual detour through the rest of continental Europe. These are the original Britons (also called the Bretons when they later wended their way over to Gaul). Or: the black Irish are basically, well, Welsh.

Note from his resume that he is now fluent in Spanish. Interesting choice of an immersion program.

Yes. where is str8. The new Camry commercials are like a field guide to Toronto. They don't even pretend to be anywhere else. About time.

The montage of Sparks' action movie scenes was off the hook. I would be an action hero if I could stay in a rolling office chair at all times.

But I want a potty tentacle, too.

Second, I rented and watched "Second String" this weekend. I am always amazed by the number of movies about the Buffalo area and/or the Bills. Anyway, "Second String" was actually very good if you like football movies that are actually about football and not about sex and dramatic crap. Jon Voigt was good -- and I was surprised to see him in it. I realize that it was late at night and I was quite a few beers in, but I got so involved at one point that I felt like I was actually watching a game.

The Bills won the SuperBowl on a ..... get this ...... faked field goal. I will be buying said film because it made me feel good and Van Miller was in it.
Hunter Smith takes the snap and runs off tackle . . . He's IN!
That gets my vote as sweet trick play of the week, though the Rams' onside kick was a pretty close second. That Bears up-man got totally smoked JUST as the ball arrived.

Which makes me wonder, what's the greatest sports movie of all time?

I vote for "Slapshot", though "Bryan's Song" always makes me sob like a two-year-old.

Slapshot, of course.
Second String is now a close second because it shows the Bills winning the Super Bowl - which made me sob like a two-year-old.
Caddyshack
Breaking Away
Major League
Eight Men Out (a personal fav for mix of sport and law - woohoo)
The Natural (filmed in Buffalo)
Longest Yard
Bad News Bears

How could you not include Bull Durham and include Major League? (And I suffered through my childhood as an Indians fan.)
