Continuation of my saga from a long time ago (spring 2001)

I think this is right on. This show is all about the one dimensional funny hysterical gay guy. I was slightly put off by that (which may be due to the fact that I spend a lot of time with screaming queens lately). I would also say that five Jacks is about four Jacks too many for an hour long tv show. It approaches satire. I wonder what gay men think about this show.
Watched it too (after the All-Star game, NTTAWWT). Comments follow:

SPOILER SPACE

Did seem that some of the "Fab 5" were exaggerating things a bit, and some of their witticisms were awfully stereotypical, like the one guy saying "When we're done you're gonna call me Patty Duke cause I'm a miracle worker" or his claimed use of "I'm super, thanks for asking..." fresh out of Big Gay Al speak on South Park...
The few gay men I know are nowhere near as flamboyant as these guys were portrayed... just normal folks. But I guess that doesn't sell ad time.

It was fairly entertaining though, and I did pick up a few useful clothes and grooming tips from the show. Much more watchable than most of the other reality-type shows.

This ain't no sock. Just some dumbass assjack newbie who posts too much and doesn't know shit. First, shit-for-brains, as everyone knows, I am not a girl. Nice try though. Thanks for playing. Second, what's up with all the misogyny? You think that makes you cool? Sorry, try again. Thanks for playing, though. Third, if you knew anything, you would understand that the post to which I replied is just part of my style. Here's a tip for you. If you cannot understand irony, I think you better find a different sandbox to play in, you stupid newbie. I've been around these boards since way back in the day, so you might want to try to find someone else to fuck with. Fourth, what's up with your moniker? I know what's up. It's just stupid. Next time, why don't you try buying a clue before posting here, you stupid asshat. Thanks for playing, though.

Impossibly sleek, crisp lines, sophisticated, vaguely mannish and threatening--too cool for me, man. You just can't wear that shit if you're a kayaking/snowshoeing/reclining on the couch in your jammies kind of woman.

Hi Adder!

Not understanding irony is incredibly trendy, and trendy is currently in.

When the Jesus Freaks stop judging me and trying to convert people, I'll stop sneering down my nose at them.

In the same vein, I've zero tolerance for extreme gays, feminists, environmentalists and everyone else who protests or tells me what I have to believe or how I must behave. Everyone is free to do whatever the hell they like, except be intolerant of others - that you cannot do.

Seems pretty goddamn simple for all of us to live together, huh? Then why the fuck are there always groups of assholes fucking it up by putting their noses into other people's shit?

S(I'll stop laughing at your idiot religious beliefs if you stop shoving them in my fucking face first)D

You know, booger, I am really tired of your feeling the need to post about me all the time. At first it was flattering, like you had some kind of cybercrush on me, or I was laminated list material for you , or at least you thought I was bangable. But I think I have had it about up to HERE with it. Find some other poster to follow around and respond to and quip about and memorize everything they ever post. Because I wont be reading it. You are now on a rest of the week visit to the land of Foof.

You ARE the weakest link! Goodbye! (it is so 2001 that I think its time to bring it back)

Hmmm, paigow's invocation of 2001 made me realize that it actually is kind of hip to be 1998, but only if you do so in an ironic way (all the while realizing that it is not actually ironic to self-consciously reference the styles or trends of a past era). The problem I face is that it logically follows that being trendy, which is currently in and therefore is so 1998, is thus hip (with the above caveats about how you go about being so 1998). But, the original premise was that not understanding irony was trendy, and that trendy is in. This leads inescapably to the conclusion that not understanding irony is trendy, which is currently in, which is so 1998, which is hip, but only if you are so 1998 in an ironic way but with the understanding that you are not really being ironic. In short, not understanding irony is actually hip, but only if you understand irony (or at least the lack thereof), which may itself be ironic, but I'm not really sure.

1998 is trendy. Listen to 1998 Grammy Award winner (Best Neew Artist) Paula Cole's "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone" and you'll understand. That was back when rock'n'roll really meant something.

Its not really a handbook, more like tablets, but we call them the Ten Commandments. WE think BRentanos has them in paperback form.

Shalom.
