"I don't think nothing was wrong with the dress," eighth-grader Dannielle Fuqua said. "I wouldn't have came to school if I thought something was wrong with the dress."
DTB just got a splitting headache.
In other grammar news, I received an email today that included the phrase "for all intensive purposes". Even I got a splitting headache from that one.

I disagree. There aren't any well-known actresses that are fly enough for the role. But there are many unbelievably beautiful women with lesser acting talent that they could have cast. I'll use Sophie Marceau in Braveheart (again) as an example.
My problem with her is that she doesn't look Greek or Turkish, which would have made it much more convincing. There are plenty of greek women who look like traditional greek goddesses (strong nose, olive complexion, curly dark hair, etc). This Helen is German.

Agreed. The woman who played Melina Havelock in "For Your Eyes Only" who was actually French, but looked Greek, was more what I had in mind.
ETA: her name is Carole Bouquet, and she played Baryshnikov's ex in the SATC finale.

Out of all of the exotic mediterranean women out there, they pick a plain jane. This Helen is, of course, very attractive. But there is nothing striking about her.

After much research, scientists have concluded that Suze Orman is the female John Basedow.
Carry on.

I thought so too. I figured it was sort of a no brainer. But then again, Helen always struck me as a "sit there and look pretty" type. Angelina doesn't.
Apparently they didn't highlight the Petroclus / Achilles angle quite as much as I would have had I been given the script to write.
Achilles always bugged the hell out of me. Hector seemed much more interesting.

Ah, she's in eighth grade. And it was spoken, not written. Cut the poor girl some slack.
I'd hate to think of what sort of malapropisms I would have uttered if I had been interviewed as an eighth-grader. Heck, on those occasions when I have been interviewed as an alleged adult, I worry about sounding like an idiot.

I am sort of on a boasting spree these days, but I have to add something here. She is very beautiful. When she was the face of Chanel we shared a runway. She is the most famous person I ever worked with. (not counting Jill Hennesey and her sister, with whom I did unpaid work).
sorry - I'll stop it.

EXACTLY. The dude was (with one *eensy-weensy* exception) impervious to mortal weapons. OF COURSE he was an awesome warrior as a result. Duh. Jesus. If by some bizarre trick, I was sent back there, even I could have kicked some serious ass on the Plains of Illium if no one could slice back.
Can you tell I always root against the Greeks? That's why I like the Aeneid better.

I lead such a boring life
According to the smoking gun, some dude got arrested for impersonating a cop when he tried to make a traffic stop and ended up pulling over a woman who happened to be a police officer who recognized this badge as a fake:
I wonder if a non-cop could have figured out this one.

Excuse me, but "proactive" and "paradigm"? Aren't these just buzzwords that dumb people use to sound important? Not that I'm accusing you of anything like that.
