You've GOT to be kidding.

I will be astonished (and it will be a sad, sad day for the FB) if someone hasn't already answered this, but the answer (of course), is Bo Diddley.

Do they care about being fulfilled and just shut up about it? When I see other people like that it makes me feel very self-indulgent to be preoccupied with my happiness and yet at the same time if I live in a time when I can, why not? Hard to decide.
We're an upper middle class nation. We'll never be satisfied.

Its harder to grow up with some wealth than none at all. If you had a cushy life for a while, it sucks to realize you'll have to grind like a fucking dog to maintain it. If you never had shit, everything you get is gravy.

Because Not Bob cares for all of you. Really.

From Yahoo: MTV says it got punk'd by Janet Jackson. Tom Freston, the chairman and CEO of MTV Networks, said Tuesday neither his company nor CBS knew of plans for the bodice-ripping incident during the Super Bowl halftime show ... Jackson said the incident, which exposed her right breast, went further than planned. A spokeswoman for Jackson said a red lace garment was supposed to remain when Timberlake tore off the outer covering.

And in my favorite example of "the buck stops anywhere other than here" corporate weasling in a long time: "When you're doing live television ... there's a great reliance and trust you have to put in the performers," Freston said in an interview after the panel talk. "And our trust was violated by the performer." Suit, please.

The first way you had it (pre ETA) I thought it said something about your "slutty childhood" and I thought "anorgasmia serves her right for all the sex she had as a child."

Cough, cough

Thank you. As you get older, your sources for the more commonly-turned-to drugs dry up, and you need alternatives.

I'm thinking, "Roxanne, you don't have to put out the red light."

But I do know that when he was a kid they had to fart in the bathtub if they wanted a jacuzzi.

Not condemning the use at all - but all the same, not naive enough to dare suggest it isnt damaging.
So your evidence is that it must be unsafe because you felt bad the next day? Hmm.

All I'm saying is that there is no evidence that it is any more dangerous than other stuff kids are using. Or even stuff that adults are legally allowed to use (and kids are illegally using).

And I am frankly concerned to have a drug policy that says - well if people are having fun with [insert substance name], better make it illegal. Kids will experiment with whatever they can get their hands on. Be it asthma inhalers, whipped cream cans, glue, etc. That is what they do. Some might even die from it. That was true when we were kids and it is true today. After they take away our Robitussen, kids will still find something to get high on. It is the way of the world.

I'm holding out hope he was going for Ellas Bates McDaniel.

Note: I actually know this because during one college summer job, I filed a foreclosure on one of his homes

Comedians; Why Less will never watch HDTV

Comedians --

Concur with Eddie Izzard. I agree, his stuff doesn't lend itself to quotes, but the material is clever and the delivery quirky.

Same effect for Anthony Clark (who's been wasting his time and ours on sitcoms).

I suspect that it resonates far better with parents, but Bill Cosby's family humor can't be beat.

In other news, we can safely conclude that Less will not be investing in HDTV anytime soon. [spree: State article on the horrors of watching porn on HDTV. Sadly, no pics]

My favorite excerpt:

Quote:
Of course, as long as they've got some bedroom skills, adult performers needn't be absolute world-beaters in the looks department, so they tend to be a lot less lovely than your average Hollywood star. In addition, they end up revealing a lot more nooks and crannies than their mainstream peers, which means many more physical flaws can wind up on-screen. That's no big deal for peddlers of lowbrow or amateur smut, in which bad bodies are the norm. But keep in mind that DirecTV will be broadcasting films from two sources, Playboy and the Spice Channel, both of which pride themselves on being vendors of classy porn. The action on Spice is tame compared to what you might find at the local XXX store, and the stars typically sport toned, pneumatic bodies without visible shortcomings. If Cameron Diaz's otherworldly reputation can't survive HDTV intact, what chance does the Spice Channel's talent have? And will HDTV customers readily fork over $14.99 per three-hour movie block once they realize that the naughty sorority sister their order conjures up has amateurish implants, and the lucky TV repairman's skin redefines the word "leathery"?
Now I'm guessing that until the industry starts investing in prettier people, Less' viewing habits will be kept limited to the 13" Panasonic.*

* Taking the size joke one step further, while tempting, is discarded in the interest of avoiding a whiff on one's own post.

I'd be the last person in the world to condemn drug use amongst consenting adults, but, seriously, anything you take for the express purpose of fucking up your mind is going to, eventually, fuck up your mind. If you're just saying "it isn't the evil demon killer that it's been made out to be", fine, but I get the feeling you're arguing that it's totally safe, and I doubt that.

Um, no, my actual evidence is watching two GFs get so violently sick that I nearly took them both to the hospital. Other evidence involves seeing people still fried several days after the fact, people unconcious on club bathroom floors, etc. I can go on.

You speak like an uninformed idiot. Take 3 tabs and report back to me in 48 hours.

And it is up to each individual to determine whether they want the brain they were born with or the one permanently damaged in the constant quest for a better high. We all have access to drugs, it's a matter of having the desire to seek them out or not, to use or not use them.

I'm not opposed to making drugs illegal but I don't think that solves the problem and perhaps makes it worse because there is no regulation and people don't know what they are getting.

So, here's a poll.

Who is the funniest person (stand up comedian or comedic actor) you've ever watched?

Hands down, Bill Hicks, R.I.P. Funniest motherfucker ever, and a great social commentator. Rock is so comfortable and smooth, and his material is great, so he's a close second. Eddie Izzard is pretty funny too, for an English Executive Transvestite (Le singe est sur la branche.)
