I didn't realize that either. But my thread title* has been used, so I'm out of the races.

*Meh.

I never know how to handle the switchover.

So . . . .

Real blue collar people loved the first two albums. They were blue collar music. After those, his music was taken over by non-blue-collar people who thought there was something edgy and cool and romantic about blue-collaredness - yuppies who thought a lack of money could make intrinsically distasteful people cool. Real people who lacked money knew better. Bruce was just writing about assholes with no money. No, we had lots of AC/DC instead.

'Bout goddam time.

Pistols and Sabbath get in.

Should be interesting to see whether Johnny refuses to go, or shows up and makes some sort of spectacle of himself.

You mean white folk blue collar, I assume.

Oh yeah.

And (at least for white folks) Pink Floyd, Skynyrd, Neil Young and for the younger set, Guns & Roses and metal bands.

This is painful. They waited too long for Ozzie. I grew up on War Pigs and Paranoid, but now he's sitting over in England writing a rock opera about Rasputin. It's like inducting a famous football player when he's in Depends. It's just too late.

Fair enough. But over the weekend, VH1 was showing the UK Rock Hall of Fame, or something to that effect. Sabbath played Paranoid, and still sounded pretty damn good.

I'm guessing the (white folk) blue collar contingent of the RRHoF voting populous voted Black Sabbath in.

My only complaint is that last year, they toasted me and expressed gratitude that I came into their lives. This year, the toast was simply to the baby. As if the baby just magically came into the world with no effort on my part.

My moment in the sun was so brief. Now I am but an afterthought. {Sigh.}
Welcome to the rest of your life.

Indeed. I should have listed them instead of Blue Oyster Cult (but not instead of Foghat) in the classic rock example of what blue collar workers of the "white folk" subcategory listen to these days.

Poetry, baby. Pure poetry.

Didn't realize you and BnB had covered this distinction in your duel.
