Any man who stands up to the facist extremists of a bastardized "religion" out to destroy Western society, is a man of principle. While you may be incoherent Hank, you are incoherently principled. Take some solace in that.

BUT, such an unwise move is the only way to put the underlying issue into debate. How is shrinking from printing anything potentially perceived as offensive by Muslims any different than allowing them to outright outlaw such expression? Same effect.

You are contradicting yourself. If it had to be done or should have been done it was not "unwise". If it is "unwise" it should not have happened.
I think that the republishing was unwise.

Point me to the substance in your argument, Seb. Your argument seems to me to be a repeated recitation of three basic premises in slightly different forms: "Free speech is good." "People who riot and burn buildings and kill people are bad." and "Appeasing terrorists is bad." You also mix in the occasional insult.
All of these are hard to argue with, but don't have much meat on the bone.

Since when did the practicality, and practical effect, of a course of action become not part of the "merits"?

P.S. You called me a coward. Coming from you, that really hurt. :liar:

That's similar, but not identical, to my point, which was much stronger and coherently laid out.
Re your mixing past and present phrasing, just stop that.

No, we should just kill all extremists, or stop religion. But we have to take the kids to soccer practice first, and then there's the bake sale . . .

You are a coward and an appeaser leading us to the point of no return. Did you review the below cartoon for content? It should remind you of someone.

This shiiite took you that long?
1. It (publishing and republishing) did have to be done, and that was implied (for the reasons - the importance of the issue - I previously noted). If you didn't get that, you're being willfully ignorant or you're challenged. Though your phrasing leaves something to be desired, I doubt the latter.
2. I'm not going to recharacterize my argument for you, or argue with your characterization of it. It says what it says in plain English. Its your job to refute it.
3. You've now exhibited exactly what I complained about. If we were at a party, I'd have already guzled my ssecond vodka and started for the bar.
Some shit is just simple. One of those things is the fact that we have to deal with Islam's "issues." If we run and hide, as you advocate, we just waste time and the problem gets bigger. Appeasement in the face of imminent conflict is just plain fucking illogical. I tip my hat to the Dutch. They took one on the chin, and we'll all be better for getting this "problem" out in the open and resolved.
By the way, I didn't just beat you like a fucking gong in this little squabble because I'm some master at this. The reason you sound absurd and have not a stitch of persuasive value behind the shit you've tried to turn into an argument is because your position is illogical. Slapping you purple on this issue is like shooting fish in a barrel.
And triust me, I know illogic and screwy arguments. When I tell you you're fucked and you should shut up, take the goddamned hint.

I am semiregularly schtupping a 20 something grad school coed who lives in Kalorama, so it's convenient and the Brickskeller offers the largest selection of Danish beers that I am aware of.
Are you exhibiting thinly veiled not so latent homophobia? Certainly your extremist Islamic friends would be with you on that P.O.V.

Heh. Considering the photoshopping that's occurred in the last 3 days, Muslims will be begging to return to the quaint days of Danish cartoons. (I'm just waiting for someone to turn one of the sillier protesters into the new Muslim Wars Kid ala the Star Wars Kid. ) Force these girly men to surf the Net, watching their Prophet take it up the ass by the Brokeback Boys should "cure" their lingering sensitivies to cartoons lickity split.

2. I did the sex (gratuituous) with a fat Danish cartoon publisher today. Then bought a Great Dane. Did the sex with it too.
Goddag.
ETA: Didn't notice the "Dutch" thing. Damn, now I have to fuck a fat Dutchman?
