No. Not at all.

My firm sponsored all my kid's teams so he gets time. maybe you can dummy up a company and pay for the team?

"A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Drink deep; or taste not the Pierian spring. There shallow draughts intoxicate the brain; and drinking sobers us again."
I haven't decided whether puffed-up lawyers (usually fresh out of school) or people who read "Lawyering for Dummies" and watch too much daytime TV are the worst offenders.

In my experience, the more complete a person's legal training, the less likely he or she is to make legal options explicit when dealing with an everyday dispute.
ETA Mmmm, tacos.

I'm with you again. I think a little training is like the worst. it doesn't have the nuances the whole kit and caboodle does...the subtleties the understanding of the finer points of law.
So he sticks it to them, but in a manner that may or not be wholly correct.
But again, you are rather agressive. If I say blue you say pink. mmm.

okay
Howard stern news just reported about a guy from Washington state who was caught by his wife screwing his female pitbull. the dog was 4 which is 28 in people years, so now pederest or homo issues. The wife took cell phone pictures and called the cops.
Questions:
1) ladies, if you caught your husband having sex with your dog, would you tell someone?
2) haven't you failed on some level? (leave him, sure, but tell the cops.....)
3) guys- wouldn't you be afraid of angering the pitbull?

Oddly, I have found quoting Pope has very little impact in getting these things done. Same is true for Byron, though Christina Rossetti has gotten me points with my kids' teachers.

Can anyone translate this into a modern-day language? Any language will do.

You take my differing points of view to be personal, somehow. They aren't.
But my real point was not having an understanding of the nuances of law or legal theory or legal tactics, but rather a little bit of a measured approach and judgment that, as RP said, tends to come with a little experience. Half-baked "legal" threats are distasteful to me, even if they are effective at times.

Aren't first-year law students the worst? I suppose someone with one year of law school is a very close second -- close enough to be a statistical dead heat.

You mean having some restraint?
To be fair, he only brings out the big guns when aggravated.

I silently use Dorothy Parker in my day-to-day dealings quite a bit.
My kid's kindergarten teacher is kind of cute, so I'm thinking of trying a little Rimbaud if I need to make something happen. So far, though, I've only managed a meek "sorry we blew the deadline for the Star of the Week" email, without even an oblique reference to a literary light.

Are you pulling a Diane Lane in Must Love Dogs? Is that the movie with Dermott Mulrooney and JOhn Cusack? Although she is the teacher.
