Narnia was good in its time, as well. I'll happily revisit it when I have kids.

The Hardy Boys were a personal child-hood favorite. My mom had the originals, not the crappy new ones with the ghost-ghost writers with the hardy boys working on computers and what not. hell, they still dialed numbers like the lived in Springfield: KLondike5-1212.

Oh, there was this series called the box car kids. They were somehow left on their own and ended up turning a boxcar into a home.

I loved those books too. I haven't read them as an adult, so who knows what I would think now.

My friend tried to get me to watch that in high school and I refused. I can watch almost any horror film without batting an eye but I absolutely cannot watch any film that has a rape scene. I had to watch "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer" for a class in college and I had nightmares for months. I wrote the required paper on the movie and in the paper I bashed the professor for subjecting me to that movie and told him that I would be sending him the therapy bills. I think he was scared that I would actually complain to the school about him so he gave me an A in the class. heh. I need to bitch more often.

I loved the Chronicles of Narnia as a kid, as an adult they've lost some of their magic, but I still like them.

Begin with Alice, both in Wonderland and beyond the Looking Glass, of course. Chronicles of Narnia do retain their magic for me.

Misty of Chincoteague was and remains a favorite; it's a horse thing. And The Red Balloon is one of those simple but multi-dimensional books.

There are a bunch of new favorites that I don't remember from when I was a kid: Jamberry is one of the best of them, as well as Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. Also, the series of Diaries of Historical Women has some great ones that bridge the kid/adult divide.

CNN is reporting that Mass.'s ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional. Legislature has 180 days to solve the problem.

The Phantom Tollbooth - I didn't read this one until after I graduated from college. I still read it.

Never heard of the Narnia books. Years ago one of the NY stores based their Christmas windows on the series. Friends and I were wandering past them on our way to the tree lighting and they were oohing and ahing and I'm wondering why a lion is in a wardrobe with a witch. I had no idea that they were about. Still haven't read them.

I used to like reading those books, though I don't even remember why now. What was his deal, something about getting the use of a Rolls or something? And who was/were his friends.

After our scintillating debate last week about whether you can tell if a person is Jewish from their last name, I was very happy to see on Average Joe last night that Mr. Cohen did indeed confirm that he is a MOT. He also confirmed that he doesn't celebrate Christmas, since Malena didn't seem to grasp the nuances of Judaism.

I don't think this is really a spoiler. Is anyone really tivo'ing this show to watch at a later time anyway?
