Music Rec, to redeem myself
I can't stop listening to the second album from Busted, called "A Present For Everyone." It's tits. Some people might compare their sound to Rooney, but they blow Rooney out of the water. Tight sound, clever lyrics, cool harmonies, excellent musicianship, lots of attitude. Love it. Sadly, it's kinda expensive on Amazon (>$30), but I found it at Tower for $25.

Let's get our metaphors straight, here. Things hit their sell by date regardless of how much of that thing has actually been sold. (In fact, it is only when things do not sell that they hit their sell by date.) I think that we should therefore all agree that we will not use the term "sell by date" to decribe a phrase that is overused, and instead will use it to refer to phrases that have simply grown stale.
This is fun! It's like we are having a semantic cleaning house here today. I look forward to the tight ship that will be the FB when we are done.

You are a genius. If only I had known that paigow was such a genius, I wouldn't have challenged your geniusicity. How does it feel to be the paigenius of a board filled with people who are trying to invent terms that you will deem ingenius? Can paigenius please be attributed to me as a board term so you can turn around and run it into the ground because you don't understand what it means? I guess I can only hope, genius.

At my law firm, a partner has to review any opinion from an associate. Maybe when a poster wants to use a metaphor term they should have to get someone who was posting in 2000 to sign off?

Concur. The foul truth is that people here often do not realize that something has hit its sell by date (even though they should have bc even though they are toolish lawyers, Chandler Bing coined the term in 1994). For example, Aloha actually dismissed someone by sayin "thanks for playing". At that point, I started using it to the point of annoyance and repulsion. This is a term that Chandler Bing used in the mid nineties and ALoha just shojld have known better. ALoha is also not the only offender on the use of this term, but he hit my "thianks for playing" saturation button. So I started exploiting this term and I am mostly positibve that I am totally correct that Aloha remains the last nonironic user of this term. If you do not follow this concept, think of how you groan internally when some loser co-worker utterse the word "NOT!" to you at the office. Like "these sandwiches that have been sitting in the conference room since 1pm are delicious! NOT!". See? So it is not I who delcares something dead as young Skippy Coltrane suggests. Rather it is I who does the public service of reminding you that this term is dead. Or stale. Or whatever.
Further, sometimes a word never had a sell by date. Becuase it was never fresh in the first place. Take for example the word "classy". Not to lord old school knowledge over the newbies, but back in the Middle Ages (Infirm). someone named Red Lady (I think it was her but it was someone with about her level of board recognition) said something was classy. Unironically. I did her the public service of coming down on her for using that word. Serious public service- not making a small profit on a ticket to see some Euro Muzak crap live but actually sa=ving her the emabarrassment of saying "classy" in real life, uninronically. Like how Omarosa said taht Heidi wasnt classy. People came down on me for being a snob but I dont think the word "classy" has been uttered unironically on the board since. Futher, I am willing to bet some of you who used to use this word unironically have desisted from doing so. Substituting terms like "wealthy looking" (hi Abba!) in its place. Which is just as classy by the way.
So, you are all welcome

Not necessary. They're using on Politics now. It will die soon enough on its own.
