Hardly surprising. But the original never had any photos at all.

I guess it would be embarrassing to admit than when I first stumbled across Julia's autobiography in the bookstore, I glanced at the cover and thought wow, Julia Child really does resemble Meryl Streep.

TMI. These euphemisms about you and Hank are pretty nauseating. Please refrain from posting them on the food boards, merci.

Help!!

I was leafing through a magazine (some Martha Stewart Living offshoot) at an appointment today and saw a recipe for vegetarian pot stickers that sounded DESHISHIS. They definitely involved mushrooms and scallions, and perhaps some ginger, but I wouldn't swear about the ginger. However, I don't seem to be able to find anything comparable on the internet, and most of the recipes I find have pig in them, and I don't eat of the pig.

Anyone know of a good recipe? I have many particular cravings at the moment, and right now, I am obsessed with pot-sticker consumption. Can anyone help a gal out?

Anytime.

googled "martha stewart recipe magazine"; selected the 2d result, b/c it looked more likely; searched for potsticker in the recipe search box.

Pie

Last night I had the most fantastic blueberry pie. And it left me wondering this: What's the secret to making a berry pie that is not all liquidy? How does one thicken the juice that will come off the berries, without making a pie that taste like cornstarch?

Adequate slightly sour berries, sugar, and not too much cornstarch. The whole reason for using cornstarch is that you need 1/10 the amount of cornstarch than you'd need with flour (and flour makes perfectly good apple pies, but for berries you need more thickening).

Also, try cooking a few berries with sugar and the cornstarch first, to get the thickening going, and then mix it in.

The sour berries have a stronger berry flavor and aren't as full of juice as the fully ripe ones, so you get denser pie.
